I made an error in my post yesterday. I neglected to add that on March 13, 1829, James Harris and James Gibson provided surety for the marriage of my ancestors John Bryant and Nancy Massey in Rockingham County, NC. Then, 2 years later, in Patrick County, VA, James and Nancy Harris sold 35 acres of land there to John Briant/Bryant. To my knowledge, all of my Bryants have lived mostly in Patrick Co (on land that is now Fairystone Park and under Philpott Lake) so I don't understand why John and Nancy would have married outside that county in any case?
