    2. belva cauthen
    3. first of all, i am still waiting for another of the posts i posted to harris hunters last night to see if it were actually posted as i have not received confirmation that it was.     again, this post still involves these connections re memucan walker having witnessed our patrick cunningham/ ann harris' 1796 laurens co, sc will, along with sarah clary, and these relevant connections re my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers but, so far, this has not come through to me that this post has been posted.    i have more to say about these connections re the walker family and their involvment with the same families as our harris family, etc, both there in lunenburg co, va as well as on into laurens co, sc.    as i have also said in the past, these connections are themselves so multi-layered and involved that it is hard to convey just how multi-dimensional and involved all of this is.   although, i do want to still talk a little more about these walker, etc, connections both there in laurens co, sc and lunenburg co, va, and may also come back to talk about at some point,  i do have other relevant connections and things i also want to talk about.   as indicated, there are also these laurens co, sc deed wherein george anderson, wife, molly, sold to mariah goodman land that bordered on sylvanus walker and also that sylvanus walker, wife, sarah  and james burnside sold land to thomas wilkes and frances lester that bordered on mariah goodman, etc.   again, there is a lot re these connections and, as indicated, the land george anderson sold to mariah goodman was on north's creek, which, again, is where my william harris, sr/ frances goode and my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers obtained these ca 1770 adjacent laurens co, sc grants.   speaking of my rodgers family, this george anderson who sold this land to mariah goodman and this james burnside involved also with him are part of the family of my andrew rodgers, sr/ jane who died in 1755 in lunenburg, now charlotte co, va.   this george anderson/ molly saxon, who was his 3rd wife, per the info, was the son of james anderson/ margaret rodgers of wards fork/ creek in lunenburg, now charlotte co, va, who also moved to laurens co, sc ca 1770.    james anderson's wife, margaret, was the daughter of my andrew rodgers, sr/ jane and sister of my john rodgers, esq/ sr, father of my frances rodgers harris.   here is the 1755 lunenburg/ now charlotte co, va will for my andrew rodgers, sr:   425. Rodgers, Andrew 12-18-1755; 7-6-1756; W.B. 1/160: Mentions: Wife: Janet Rodgers (she is called jane in laurens co, sc) Sons: Andrew Rodgers, John Rodgers, Thomas Rodgers, Patrick Rodgers  Daughters: Rebecca Rodgers, Margaret Anderson,  Elizabeth Culbertson, Martha Burnside; Son-in-law: James Burnside. Executors: Janet Rodgers (wife), James Burnside.  Witnesses: David Caldwell, William Cunningham, Wm. Caldwell.   also here is a lunenburg co, va deed showing that james anderson, wife, margaret, lived in this ward's fork/ creek area of lunenburg, now charlotte co, va.   lunenburg co, va deed book 3, page 328, 1753, james anderson of lunenburg co, va to george clarke of same for 110 pds, 440 acres on ward' fork, being part of a larger tract formerly granted by john lidderdale and elizabeth, his wife, to james anderson.  signed:  james anderson, margaret anderson, her mark.  witnesses:  william holt; alexander joyce; john robertson.   in fact, here is the lunenburg co, va deed wherein john lidderdale, etc, sold this land to james anderson.   lunenburg co, va deed book 1, page 304, 1748, alexander spalding, john lidderdale, and samuel gordon, merchants, to james anderson, spalding and lidderdale gave power of attorney, dated feb 6, 1744, to convey land by deed of about 504 acres, part of a tract of 16, 933 acres on ward's fork, which was patented to spalding and lidderdale on feb 4, 1744 and which lot is numbered 27 where the whole tract is divided into 34 lots.  signed:  john lidderdale; andrew spalding.  witnesses:  thomas jones; thomas vernon; james murphey.   i have not focused futher on our james anderson/ margaret rodgers except there in lunenburg/ charlotte co, va.   also, as the info re james anderson/ margaret rodgers' family states, this was also their anderson family, who, like our harris and carter family, also moved to cobb co, ga and also to benton, now calhoun/ cleburne co, al where they may have continued also to have been involved with my harris family, etc, in these areas.   early on re my research on my harris family, i focused, of course, on these cobb/ paulding; benton/ calhoun/ cleburne cos, al areas but my focus for quite some time now has been to trace our harris family on back from these areas, which was, then, back to laurens co, sc and on back to this lunenburg/ mecklenburg cos, va, etc, area.    again, per this info re the family of our james anderson/ margaret rodgers, this was george anderson/ 2nd wife, named miss lewis, who were the parents of david lewis anderson, who was the probate judge there in laurens co, sc for many years.   also, george anderson's 3rd wife molly was mary/ molly saxon and this was the same saxon family, again, not only involved with my harris and rodgers families there in laurens co, sc, but, again, the saxons, like our harris family and the walker family, also trace back to new kent co, va.   laurens co, sc deed book B, page 96, 1786, george anderson and wife, mary/ molly, to mariah goodman for 100 pds, 140 acres on both sides of norths creek bordered by james burnside, robert young, james cook, john milam, silvanus walker.  witnesses:  samuel wharton, charles sullivant.   laurens co, sc deed book B, page 150, 1786, silvanus and sarah walker and james burnside of one part to frances lester and thomas wilkes of another part for 125 pds sterling, 110 acres on norths creek, grant to george anderson and authur spence, bordered on john milam, ----- hardy, thomas gafford, james burnside, mariah goodman.  witnesses:  samuel saxon, john williams, junr.   again, besides sylvanus walker, jr, john middleton and john wait were also appraisers of my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers' 1800 laurens co, sc estate sale and both john middleton and the wait family inter-married with the family of our james and margaret rodgers anderson.   From: < [email protected]> Subject: [ANDERSON-L] JAMES ANDERSON Date: Fri, 22 Jan 1999 12:30:30 EST A COLLECTION OF UPPER SOUTH CAROLINA GENEALOGICAL AND FAMILY RECORDS, Vol. 2, pages 11-12, discusses the following Anderson line: James Anderson, b. ? d. will filed in 1783 in Laurens Dist., SC, naming sons William, George, Andrew Anderson.
