But I cannot prove that statement.] Sherwood Harris - this is a common first name among Harris males, it seems, but this name appears frequently in the grantor deed indexes of Madison Co., KY.. Tthe fact that this particularly Sherwood Harris was associated with a Leonard Henley Bullock puts him in a time and a place. [Sherwood seems to have been a favorite name among various Harris males.] These two men were from colonial Granville Co. NC. Bullock was one of the *partners* of Col. Richard Henderson in the founding of Transylvania Company, sometimes called Henderson & Co. Henderson and several other proprietors were involved in setting up Boonesborough [in Madison Co., KY currnetly]. A Filson Club publication called Boonesborough tells a great deal about this effort to set up a 14th or 15th colony [depending on how one counts]. It was compiled by George W. Ranck and has been digitized. It is on HeritageQuest, the genealogical database available at many public libraries which subscribe.
