Whoever the Robert Harris (of St.Mar., Hanover Co.) was in 1748 "signing" his name to the Amelia deed to my Thomas Harris, and much later selling that land in 1771 "marking" his name (w/wife Eliz.).....he stayed on the Hanover Co. VA tax lists up to the year 1800, then disappears....now, I'm just making a speculation here as to a couple potentials that could possibly fit this Robert Harris of Hanover Co. and remember, I'm just tossing out ideas as this guy is really a mystery. 1) Robt who married Mezapina....this Robt died (as we know by Louisa Co. records) ca 1799....and do we have a direct descendant from him in our DNA project? I'm unaware of any. 2) We can see a Robert Harris who shows up in the Prince Edward Co. tax lists in 1789 & disappears off the lists after 1796 and looks as tho one Wm Harris was living with him in 1793 and, of course, we know most of these men below are from our DNA Gp 8. 1789 April 8 - Graves Harris- free male tithables Graves Harris, 3 blacks above 16, 6 horses April 30 - Ralph Harris- free male tithables Ralph Harris, 1 black above 16, 1 black between 12 & 16, 2 horses June 1 - Saml Harris- free male tithable Saml Harris, 1 horse June 9 - Robt Harris- free male tithable Robt Harris June 13 - Ann Harriss- free male tithable Claibourn Harris Edm Harris, 3 blacks above 16, 2 blacks between 12 & 16, 3 horses June 13 - Elizabeth Harris- free male tithable John Harris, 2 blacks above 16, 2 blacks between 12 & 16, 3 horses June 15 - Giles Harris- free male tithable Giles Harris, 2 horses 1793 John Bookes District Edmd.
