i had posted another post about this william harris of goochland co, va, etc, which did not post and perhaps because it was just too long. so, i am going to divide and try again. per this post, to follow, also by dolores rutherford also re the harris and page families in goochland co, va, she also references this william taylor of old lyme, ct, who wrote about this william harris of goochland co, va and who stated that it was this william harris of goochland co, va who was the son of our william harris/ mary giles. what i have said and said consistently that when i decided for us to participate in the harris dna project, my research showed that my william harris, sr/ frances goode was the son of my william harris/ judith hudson of lunenburg/ mecklenburg co, va. i had never even heard of this william harris of goochland co, va until i came on line or saw any connections with him and his family or to any other william harris, except for william harris/ judith hudson, with my william harris, sr/ frances goode there early in lunenburg co, va. again, as i have also posted a number of times now, it was my william harris, sr/ frances goode; his son, my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers, who along with my mackerness goode, sr; his son, our mackerness goode, jr and also with john cargill, sr/ rachel tinsley; their son, cornelius cargill/ sarah, who obtained these ca 1770 grants in laurens co, sc where they continued to be significantly involved there, having moved to laurens co, sc from this lunenburg/ halifax cos, va area. these are the earliest and most significant connections i have re my william harris, sr/ frances goode and my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers in laurens co, sc, other than the fact that both my william harris, sr/'s frances goode and my william harris, jr's/ frances rodgers grants were adjacent each other and my rodgers family, who had also moved to laurens co, sc from lunenburg/ charlotte co, va also ca 1770. again, i repeat the earliest and the most relevant connections i have re both my william harris, sr/ frances goode and my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers from this lunenburg/ halifax cos, va area on into laurens co, sc is with my own rodgers and goode families and also with john cargill, sr/ rachel tinsley and their son, cornelius cargill/ sarah and the significance of these connections cannot be discounted either there in va and/or on into laurens co, sc. again, i have never been able to learn where my william harris, sr/ frances goode died but my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers died in 1799 in laurens co, sc. again, both my william harris, sr/ frances goode and william harris/ judith hudson were there in lunenburg co, va at a time when this william harris/ mary of goochland co, va was there with his sons sherwood harris and gilliam harris, and who, again, is stated to have been the william harris whose daughter agnes harris married john cawthon. again, it was this william taylor of old lyme, ct and i think also malcolm hart harris, etc, who wrote that this william harris of goochland co, va was the son of our william harris/ mary giles. this is just not what my own research re my specific harris line and family shows and/ or what our harris dna confirms. again, it is my brother david harris, who is participating in the harris dna project and we are a match with harris dna group 8, who are said and shown to have been the descendants of our captain thomas harris 1611 of jamestown via his son, our major william harris, wife, alice who re marrried george alvis, and who was the mother of our william harris/ mary giles (?) b ca 1672 and his brother edward harris b ca 1674. again, my research, confirmed by our harris dna, shows that my william harris, sr/ frances goode, who was in lunenburg co, va by 1746, was the son of my/ our william harris/ judith hudson who was also in brunswick/ lunenburg co, va by 1743 and who died in 1778 in mecklenburg co, va. again, this is also confirmed by this 1750 dodson survey for this land on wynn creek, which fell into halifax co, va, for william harris, sr and jr, which became a patent to my william harris, sr/ frances goode in 1758, which he sold in several tracts to john camp. again," sr ", per this 1750 dodson survey, would have been my william harris/ judith hudson and " jr ", my william harris, sr/ frances goode. again, this halifax area would have been in cornelius cargill's district, father of john cargill, sr/ rachel tinsley, and, again, my william harris/ judith hudson and my william harris, sr/ frances goode were the only william harrises in cornelius cargill's district in 1749/ 1750. again, also my research and our harris dna also show, then, that it would have been my william harris/ judith hudson, who was the son of our william harris/ mary giles. again, if this william harris of hanover, louisa, goochland cos, va is/ was also part of our captain thomas harris' harris line and family, then, he has to be the son of our william harris/ mary giles' brother, edward harris. there is no other option. again, what definitely indicates that this william harris of hanover, louisa, and goochland cos, va may have been the son of our edward harris, brother of our william harris/ mary giles, is this william harris' and his sons associations with the cawthons; the depriest family, who, again, are shown, per the processioning records of new kent/ hanover cos, va, to have been more involved with edward harris; george alvis; his son, david harris, and the crenshaws. however, in order, to also confirm these connections, a descendant of this william harris of goochland co, va and/ or his sons, sherwood harris and gilliam harris, would need to be found to also participate in our harris dna project. to be continued: belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8--------26910
