    3. here is a post by vikky wilburn also showing this james gresham's connections with the page; rice; wilburn, etc, families there in goochland co, va.   i have corresponded briefly with vikky wilburn in the past.     in fact, about the time i came on line, she asked me if i could identify the john wilborn/ wilburn, who, again, was significantly involved with  both my william harris, sr/ frances goode and my william harris/ judith hudson there in lunenburg co, va.   again, i cannot but i do agree with her that there is probable kinship re our john wilborn, wife, judith, of lunenburg co, va and this richard wilburn of goochland co, va.   again, as shown, per this post by vikky, richard wilburn purchased land from john page, who is the same page family involved with sherwood harris, son of william harris of goochland co, va, and this deed was witnessed by james gresham.   as also shown, richard wilburn also  lived near charles rice there in goochland co, va.   again, our edward harris, son of our william harris/ mary giles, sold 50 acres in louisa co, va to william harris, who, again, was the same william harris/ mary of hanover, louisa, and goochland cos, va, who, then, sold these same 50 acres to this charles rice.   again, my william harris/ judith hudson, per brunswick co, va deed, in 1743 sold to stephen harris of st martin's parish, hanover co, va land also in louisa co, va.   again, the land our edward harris sold to this william harris of goochland co, va and the land my william harris/ judith hudson sold to stephen harris of hanover co, va were recorded on the very same date in the louisa co, va court records.   WILBURN-L ArchivesArchiver > WILBURN > 2002-10 > 1034461618 From: "Vikky Anders" < [email protected]> Subject: [WILBURN-L] Richard Wilburn of Goochland, VA c 1750 Date: Sat, 12 Oct 2002 15:26:58 -0700 The following is info that I have gleamed re: Richard Wilburn of Goochland, VA It appears likely that he was married to Ann Whitlock and that his people lived in Middlesex Co VA c 1727. Many records in Christ Church Parish show names of families that Wilburns later married into. (families who lived in Middlesex, VA c 1700-1730. Margaret Wilburn m Paul Philpott in Middlesex Co VA in 1727 And this no doubt explains why there were later generations of people named Wilburn Philpott. Elizabeth Wilburn m Robert Guttery in Middlesex Co VA in 1728. There were later Wilburn/Guttery marriages...one in Amherst Co VA in 1778. The latter appears to be a grandson of Richard and Ann Whitlock Wilburn... Note: there was also a Wilburn Whitlocks from VA. (By 1850, Lewis Whitlock was living in the home of Burrell Wilburn of Carter KY)...This is just one example of what I mean by families who continued to marry into each others lines for hundreds of years... Wm Wilburn, son of Richard Wilburn and whatsherface?? Hughes (I think her name might have been Suzannah) m Eda Guttery...Wm and Eda later settled into Giles, VA on Sugar Run Mountain and Wolfe Creek...(now known as Wilburn Valley) near Pearisberg. Wm also had a brother named Richard.. Back to Richard Wilburn who married Ann Whitcock and later died in debt in Goochland, VA in 1756. In 1743, Richard Wilburn was living in Lousia Co VA near South Anna River...his property bordered on Ragland's line...which might explain why there was also a Wilburn Ragland... John Page also lived in Lousia Co VA...and he sold land to Richard Wilburn that was located on Lickinghole Creek in Goochland, VA...The deed was recorded on 19 Mar 1750 for 100 acres of land adjoining the lands of Turner Christian, Charles Toney, Thomas Stark and John Layne. It was witnessed by Wm Williams, Giles Letcher and James Gresham. Richard also lived very near Charles Rice...Charles Rice died in Goochland, VA in 1785. Please note names in his will: Wife: Mary sons--Charles, BASIL, TANDY, WM and Holman dau...Molly TRICE witness to his will were: Daniel and Wm Borman... We also know that there were many Rice/Wilburn marriages. Hence Rice Wilburn...there must be at least four or five Rice Wilburns... I cite this due to kinships of neighbors....just about everyone who lived near anyone did so because of kinships... One can see this from those who signed Richard Wilburn land deed. His son Thomas Wilburn m Christian Page... There was also a Wilburn/Toney marriage in Powhaton co VA too... Not all Wilburns with roots in VA descend from Richard Wilburn and Ann Whitlock Wilburn... There was also a John Wilburn who m Suzannah Preston c 1740 in VA. I suspect (not proven that This John and Richard were brothers.) And I think (that he might be the John Wilburn who later died in Lunenburg, VA in 1757..) Dunno??? In fact, there were a number of other Wilburn famlies of this era who lived in VA...And I am convinced that they were all related...Not everyone agrees with this contention. I cannot prove that they were, and those who disagree cannot prove that they were not...And that's it from San Diego. But for those of you who do have some Goochland, VA ties...then think Pocahontas and her family...because we surely have some kinships.  belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8--------26910
