good research has been and is always going to be needed in our genealogical research.    the dna has provided us, however, with an additional, incredible tool.   again, good research and our dna go hand in hand and we still need good and reliable paper trails, as we say.    our dna is, however, going to be the final say so and gives us the confirmation, which, again, bespeaks the importance of having ones dna done.   again, as rich says, our harris dna does not tell us our exact harris line and family is but it does tell us absolutely and does absolutely confirm which harris line and family we are part of.     this is in itself, given the number of harris families and lines we do have, is such valuable and incredible info to know and to have.   again, in regard to my own research and after many years of my doing research, i knew  what my research definitely showed and indicated that we were part of the captain thomas harris harris line and family but i needed the dna to confirm this.   my problem was, however, that in the past no one had ever written anything about my william harris, jr of laurens co, sc, etc, or his father my william harris, sr/ frances goode of lunenburg co, va.   i have a paper trail.  it is not as neatly tied up or shown as some of you may have but i think my "trail" and my experience in my research are probably a lot more "kin" to that of others and, again, this is why getting the dna done is just so  important.   so, i also hope that if you are a harris and/ or know someone who is that you will take the opportunity of the holiday special to have your harris dna done.   i also hope all of you have a joyful holiday season with your own families and loved ones.   sincerely,   belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8-------26910
