    1. [HARRIS-HUNTERS] Re DNA
    2. HAROLD D ANDREWS
    3. I have been rather curious as to how DNA could get one back further than we KNOW for sure (short of digging people up and checking their DNA). For instance: Through family records and deeds along with census records that match with what is known for sure about the children, I have traced my Claiborne Harris to Anson Co. N. C. I have suspected that he could possibly have been the son of William Harris and Judith Hudson but since I don't know for sure and nobody knows for sure what their DNA was and there are many people of the same name (William) who also could have had a wife Judith how do I know that the Claiborne that was their son is mine. My cousin had the DNA test and it put us in the Group 4. I communicated with a man who was 4 but found no connection to my Claiborne. The other Claibornes that I have run across do not have the same wife or are not in the same time frame as mine. Through the census and the birth date of a son who may be the firstborn son I have determined that my Claiborne could have been born between 1760-65 and probably married in the early 1780's. The son Mumford Monroe was born in 1786-7. So far I haven't found a marriage date for Claiborne and his wife Alice Young Hill. There are so many Roberts, Johns and Williams that a lot of people claim to be descended from (at least the well documented ones) my question is how does one KNOW that the famous name is their ancestor.?
