    1. [HARRIS-HUNTERS] Trying to Find Links to Previous Residences in Censuses
    2. Richard Price wrote the following: From: "Richard Price" <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [HARRIS-HUNTERS] George Harris/Warren KY In my search for my George Harris born in KY about 1840's married Ermine E. Edgar. My George Harris had a brother James who was probably younger also of KY. I have never found any KY links to either only her death certificate information found in Colorado in 1918. Is it possible that the George Overton Harris listed below is my George Harris' (est dob of 1840's) father? Response: Richard, I suggest going back to the old stand-by for genealogists -- searching the censuses from 1880 through the 1930 census. The 1880 census--free on _www.familysearch.org_ (http://www.familysearch.org) , I think -- you may be directed to Ancestry.com where it should be free--but may not be--is the first one in which each enumerated person was asked where each of his parents was born. Subsequent censuses also asked this question. Harris is NOT the easiest name to research, I acknowledge. Edgar is less common. I hope you get some clues from the censuses. If you know where in Colorado this family may have been in 1910 census, take a peek at the whole census for that town or county--and see where others were from. Relatives may have moved with them. I hope these later censuses give you some clues about the origins of your Harris-Edgar family. If a county history has been compiled, you may find some clues in that county history. A good many county histories have been digitized and are on such databases as HeritageQuest. Ask if your library subscribes to HeritageQuest. Only libraries can subscribe.
