there has been much written about our harris families in the past and as i have said and will continue to say, it is up to those of us who are now seriously researching our harris families and focusing on them to try and figure out what it is that they may or may not have gotten right and why we think they did or did not. again, kathryn wiggins did a lot of earlier research on the early harris families of va and nc, etc, and in her vol/ booklet of harris papers: granville co, nc, she compiled a geneagraph re our captain thomas harris' harris line and family and his son, our major william harris, wife, alice, who remarried george alvis, and their sons, our william harris/ mary giles (?) b ca 1672 and his brother, edward harris b ca 1674. in this geneagraph, she says that edward harris, again, brother of our william harris/ mary giles: had these children: a daughter, ann harris by his first wife, mary, and by his 2nd wife, elizabeth: edward harris; sarah harris; john harris; thomas harris; robert harris, sr, who also had sons, robert harris, jr; harrison harris; and matthew harris. she also has that it was this robert harris, sr, son of our edward harris, brother of our william harris/ mary giles, who was the same robert harris, sr, who worked as a surveyor for his cousin david harris, who was a land dealer. of course, this david harris would have been our david harris/ jane landy richardson, who is stated, per a louisa co, va deed, to have been the son of our william harris/ mary giles who obtained in 1725 this land on cubb creek in hanover, now louisa co, va. again, both david harris/ jane landy richardson and this robert harris, wife, elizabeth, who was, again, shown or definitely indicated to have been the same robert harris involved there with thomas poore and isaac morris and again, the same robert harris, elizabeth, who sold land to carol's thomas harris, which, in fact, her thomas harris sold back to him and/ or to his son, robert harris, jr, and, then, this robert harris, sr or jr, wife, elizabeth, sold the land to stephen davis. again, they are all stated to have been of st martin's parish, hanover co, va and these deeds were also witnessed by the depriest family. in fact, speaking of whether there was both a robert harris, sr, who could have been married to elizabeth poore and who was the daughter of this thomas poore, and a robert harris, jr, who could have been married to elizabeth morris, daughter of this isaac morris, kathryn wiggins', per this geneagraph, does say that this robert harris, sr, who was the son of our edward harris, brother of our william harris/ mary giles, did have a son, robert harris, jr. in fact, again, speaking of these st martin's parish, hanover co, va connections, the louisa co, va land my william harris/ judith hudson, per brunswick co, va in 1743 sold to stephen harris, this deed also states that this stephen harris was also of st martin's parish, hanover co, va. so, we have a lot of connections re our captain thomas harris' harris line and family to this st martin's parish, hanover co, va area and the same individuals/ families there. the question, to me, carol, is this your thomas harris, who was the brother of this robert harris, sr, who had sons, robert harris, jr; harrison harris; and matthew harris, and who were the sons of edward harris, brother of our william harris/ mary giles, according to this geneagraph compiled by kathryn wiggins? if you do not think so, which is, again, what this info and all of these connections indicate to me, then, why do you say this was not your thomas harris? to be continued: belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8-------26910
