again, i cannot explain other than the fact that mumford/ munford was a popular person or name at the time why sarah's ancestor claiborne harris would have named a son mumford harris. the fact that sarah did have an ancestor named claiborne harris and, again, her interest also in william harris/ judith hudson, led me to hope that her cousin might be harris dna match with my brother david harris. obviously, that did not pan out and a lot of this re our searches re our harris families continues to be confusing and a puzzle. again, this is, per the records, both my william harris, sr/ frances goode and my william harris/ judith hudson, etc, were living in lunenburg co, va in 1749/ 1750 in cornelius cargill's district and this cornelius cargill was the father of john cargill, sr/ rachel tinsley. again, per the records, my william harris, sr/ frances goode; my william, harris, jr/ frances rodgers, along with my mackerness goode, sr and his son, our mackerness goode, jr; john cargill, sr/ rachel tinsley; their son, cornelius cargill, wife, sarah, all obtained ca 1770 grants in laurens co, sc. again, a tax/ memorial had to be paid on these grants in laurens co, sc and our mackerness goode, jr paid the tax/ memorial for cornelius cargill/ sarah's 1767, 400-acre grant and cornelius cargill/ sarah paid the tax/ memorial for my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers' 150-acre grant there in laurens co, sc. again, it was my william harris, sr/ frances goode who in 1746 in lunenburg co, va was the overseer for william marable's plantation, finneywood. william marable was the father of matthew marable. again, in 1750 in lunenburg co, va, a suit ensued re my william harris, sr/ frances goode with william marable and my mackerness goode, sr, along with other of my goode family, including, also, samuel goode, brother-in-law of my william harris, sr/ frances goode, gave depositions re this suit. again, our samuel goode married some time before 1750 jemimah davenport, daughter of joseph davenport, who was in granville co, nc and who, like my harris and goode family, etc, also moved to this laurens / newberry cos, sc area. again, it was my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers and his uncle samuel goode, who, along with sarah, widow of cornelius cargill, paid the security re the estate of cornelius cargill in 1781 in this 96th dist/ laurens co, sc area. again, this cornelius cargill/ sarah was the son of john cargill, sr/ rachel tinsley of lunenburg/ halifax co, va who pat has just mentioned again with some connections also re the munfords there in lunenburg co, va. the strong ties cornelius cargill/ sarah had with my harris and goode family both there in this lunenburg/ halifax cos, va area on into laurens co, sc leads me to believe that sarah was a sister of my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers and also a daughter of my william harris, sr/ frances goode. some of the info does say that sarah was a harris but other info says she was the daughter of this russell wilson of edgefield co, sc. the fact that she was the daughter of this russell wilson is based on some story told re an event that supposedly happened during the revolutionary war in laurens co, sc. all i can say to you pat or to sarah is that my research is based on the records and what this info has shown to me based on these records. again, there continues to be a lot of this re our harris families, and it seems at times in particular my harris line and family, that continues to somehow be challenged and/ or confused, etc, and, again, i can only hope that these issues whatever they are will be totally resolved at some point. belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8------26910
