    1. [HARRIS-HUNTERS] Collaterals of some Hanover & Louisa Co. VA Harrises
    2. For those interested in some Harris-Dabney connections, At least one Harris male (Christopher Harris of colonial Louisa and Albemarle Co., VA and later of Madison Co., KY) married a Dabney, whose first name is reputed to be Mary. (I have not found verification of that name but for the nonce I will accept it.) Christopher's will was proved 1794 in Madison Co., KY. At any rate, in his will probated in Madison Co., KY, Christopher Harris mentions his *first children*, one of whom was named Dabney Harris, apparently [but not proved] the eldest son. Christopher also makes reference to the will of Cornelius Dabney [probably of a different generation than the one mentioned below.] in reference to his *first children*. Some researchers are doing research on that migrating person Dabney Harris, whom we run across in Surry Co., NC records and other places. A power of attorney executed by Dabney Harris of Surry Co. gives P/A to his son Christopher Harris to act in his, Dabney's, place, in the execution of the will of C. Harris. The P/A is recorded in Madison Co., deed records. The following highly abstracted will of one Susanah Anderson of Hanover Co., VA, with source, is given below. Apparently the testator, Susanah Anderson was first married to a Dabney, as she has has a son named Cornelius Dabney. My research indicates Cornelius is one of several men of that name, but the date and place of the will of Mrs. Anderson will be of interest to those Harrises who have a link to the Dabney family. The compiler of these abstracted wills gives his sources. Acc. with a number following refers to an accession number at the Library of Virginia [formerly known as the Virginia State Archives]. I will post another abstracted will from the same source, Hopkins, at a later date. >From William Lindsay Hopkins, Some of the Wills from the Burned Counties [Richmond VA: Published by author, 1987], p. 49 Comment: My photocopy of the page did not copy the actual date this will was proved. Susanah Anderson Han-St. Paul Mar 1722/5 Feb 172 ? Grandson William Anderson (under 18). James Trice, father-in-law of William Anderson. Son Cornelius Dabney. Daughter Dorothy Trice, wife of James Trice. Daughter Mary Carr, wife of Capt. Thomas Carr. Son David Anderson. Exor: Son Cornelius Dabney. Wit: John Smith, Mary Smith. Acc. 25854 Trice Notes Comment: In some cases, father-in-law is referring to a stepfather, which I deduce may be the case here.
