    3. pat, you and mitch posted on here quite some time ago that we had a new harris group 8 dna match re this stephen harris, who married mary gillison (?) in 1787 in edgefield co, sc.     i have never received from harris family tree dna that my brother david harris is a match with this stephen harris per our harris dna group 8.   is there proof that the ancestor of this william harris, who you have said was this stephen harris/ mary gillison (?), did marry some mary in edgefield co, sc?   you posted that this william harris, who was their ancestor, was the son of harrison harris/ elizabeth betts, son of stephen harris/ mary/ polly gillison of granville co, nc, son of claiborne harris/ judith.   you included the info that my arch harris/ elizabeth carter was part of this gwinnett co, ga harris line you posted.   first of all, ira says that this claiborne harris/ judith of granville co, nc was his ancestor and ira matches with those in harris dna group 6.     again, i also told you that there were two archibald harrises in gwinnett co, ga in 1830.    the archibald harris/ mary thompson, page 348, there in 1830 in gwinnett co, ga, and per the info by maud calloway hayes, is said to have been a son of benjamin harris/ karen gillson, son of claiborne harris/ judith of granville co, nc.     according to what ira posted earlier, both stephen harris' wife  mary gillison and benjamin harris' wife karen gillison were the daughters of this archibald gillison, who died in abbeville co, sc.   From: "Ira L. Date: 3 January 1792 Wit: George Nash, James Thornhill, Valentine Nash. Rec:September 2(?),1792. >From what I have been able to figure out, Mary (Gillison)Harris was the wife of Stephen Harris. Karenhappoch (Gillison) Harris was the wife of Benjamin Harris. Benjamin and Stephen were the sons of Claiborne "Ned" Harris and his wife, Judith ___________. This is part of the line that descends through Robert Harris of Ware Creek, and York County, Virginia. Robert's son, Thomas, was the father of Claiborne "Ned". Any insight or additional information concerning these Harris' or Gillison's is appreciated. Please respond through HH or H-SC so that others may be helped. Ira L.
