    2. Ira L. Harris III, In response to your question, These are the Negro (free) and Mulatto as described in the 1754 Militia list of Granville County, North Carolina. Edward Harris married one of the Chavers daughters. His origins are unknown. North Carolina State Records, Volume 22, Pages 370-380; Colonel William Eaton's Regiment of Militia, Granville County, North Carolina. Captain John Glover's Company, October 8, 1754; William Chavers, Negro. William Chavers Jr., Mulatto. Gilbert Chavers, Mulatto. Edward Harris, Negro. These are the only Negro listed in Glover's Company or in any of the Granville Companies of Militia for that year, but there are some others listed as Mulatto. James E.
