again, all of this harris family on cubb creek and/ or associated with this cubb creek land in hanover/ louisa co, va is indicated to me and, per the records, etc, to have been the harris family of our captain thomas harris' harris family and either the sons/ grandsons of our william harris/ mary giles or his brother edward harris. again, as most know, who are interested in the early colonial va/ nc harris families, kathryn wiggins studied the harrises there for a number of years and compiled her research in a number of volumes/ booklets which she called the "harris papers". i have several of her volumes/ booklets which i acquired from her quite a number of years ago. i have her: harris papers: new kent/ hanover co, va; harris papers: lunenburg co, va; and harris papers: granville co, nc. wiggins has in her harris papers: granville co, nc that: "sherwood harris, who died in 1763 and left his will in granville co, nc is thought by the best authorities, mr joe harris; dr malcolm harris, and others as well as the collector of these abtracts (herself) to be the sherwood harris who in the 1750's processioned the lines of the land in louisa co, va records that had belonged to his father richard harris, deceased, doubtless his father. also in her harris papers: granville co, nc, she has a geneagraph she compiled re our captain thomas harris' harris family in 1982 based on her years of research on the early harris families. i cannot say that kathryn wiggins got it all right, per this geneagraph, but, again, whether in regard to kathryn wiggins; malcom harris; or lee harris, etc, we need to figure out what it is they did get right and what they did not get right and what these records themselves do show. kathryn wiggins has, then, that this richard harris/ sarah b ca 1694-1745 was one of the 8 sons of our william harris/ mary giles, son of our major william harris/ and his 2nd wife, alice, son of our captain thomas harris 1611 jamestown. again, our alice, widow of our major william harris, re-married george alvis. then, she has that this richard harris/ sarah, who was the son of our william harris/ mary giles, was the father of richard harris/ margaret kimbrough, who re-married priscilla holmes and who died 1787 granville co, nc; this same sherwood harris/ jane, who died 1763 granville co, nc, and, robert harris / lemander, who died also there in granville co, nc in 1787. again, malcolm harris and joe harris agreed with her that this was the same sherwood harris. so, again, what info had they seen? we, again, know that malcolm harris and others also agreed that this was our william harris/ mary giles' harris family on cubb creek in hanover/ louisa co, va. i also agree with them that this was our william harris/ mary giles and our captain thomas harris' line and family who were on cubb creek in hanover/ louisa cos, va. again, it does not make sense to me that this would have been both our captain thomas harris' harris line and family and your captain william harris/ temperance overton's harris line and family also there on cubb creek and who were involved there with each other. in fact, again, our harris dna confirms that this was our captain thomas harris' harris line and family there in cubb creek in hanover/ louisa co, va. as shown, this was our david harris/ jane landy richardson, who was also cited in these cubb creek deeds and who is shown to have been a son of our william harris/ mary giles. again, descendants of david harris/ jane landy richardson are a match with our harris dna group 8, tracing back, per the records, to our captain thomas harris 1611 of jamestown. again, as shown, there was also a richard harris and a sherwood harris there on cubb creek which we have cited per these louisa co, va deeds many times. if, again, as these deeds and info show that this was our william harris/ mary giles harris' family on cubb creek, then, i am going to have to, again, agree with wiggins and others that this is also indicated to have been all our harris family there on cubb creek, which included, then, this richard harris and sherwood harris. these louisa co, va deeds re richard harris and sherwood harris also there on cubb creek have been posted many times but here are some of these deeds again. specifically, it shows that the land sherwood harris sold to nelson anderson was adjacent william harris and in david harris' line. it also shows that sherwood harris had purchased this land from richard henderson. this was the same richard henderson, who witnessed the brunswick co, va deed wherein william harris, who i believe was william harris/ judith hudson, sold this land in louisa co, va to stephen harris, who, again, is also shown to have been the same stephen harris who was also involved with david harris. Louisa Co, Va Deed Book A, p. 107-108, 3 Aug 1743 William Harris of Brunswick Co. to Stephen Harris of St. Martin ’s Par., Hanover Co. £12 currt. money. 62 acres and plantation in Fredericksville Par. William Harris Wit: Richard Henderson, James Woody, John (X) Adams 12 Sept 1743 proved by oaths of the witnesses. i have also talked about this richard henderson previously. the info shows that this richard henderson, wife, elizabeth, was the son of this william henderson. here is info on the will of william henderson and it connects him with this theophilus watson, sr, who is shown to have been the same theophilus watson, sr also involved with our william harris/ mary giles and george alvis, per the processioning records of new kent co, va. Only one fragment remains of William Henderson's will and the settlement of his estate. Richard Henderson was one of the executors; the other was Theophilus Watson Sr., the father of Thomas Watson who was born 1684, and was brother-in-law of Quaker Richard Henderson. Elderly Theophilus Watson was probably appointed executor to watch over Richard Henderson whose business sense was less than exact; the fragment shows that Richard Henderson could not provide vouchers for some of his expenditures of William Henderson's estate money; the court decided Richard Henderson's accounts were probably true, and his financial statement was admitted to record. Richard Henderson lived on Cub Creek near William Henderson and appears to have been William Henderson's only son in Louisa county. Son William Henderson lived in Goochland and son Thomas Henderson had died, leaving heirs. Names of William Henderson's three sons-in-law were listed: James Pyrant, Thomas Watson, and Lawrence Redman........ again, as shown, this theophilus watson, sr, who was an executor of william henderson's will was the same theophilus watson, who was also processioned with our william harris/ mary giles and our george alvis, per the processioning records of new kent co, va. this is also from the kathryn wiggins': harris papers/ new kent/ hanover cos, va re processing records for st paul's parish/ new kent co, va: Precinct # 15., 1711: "The Lands of George Alves, William Harris, Thomas Harden, Theophilus Watson, George Marr, & Jos. Hamilton, lying Adjacent to each Other, being made one precinct, of which the Sd. George Alves and William Harris are appointed Overseers, who made this return on the Back of the Order viz. The within Order Executed by all, only Thomas Casey instead of George Marr, and Adam Rutherford instead of Joseph Hamilton. Subscrib'd George Alves and William Harris." again, this is also shown to have been our william harris/ mary giles, associated with george alvis and theophilus watson, sr per this new kent co, va processioning record in 1711. here, again, is the louisa co, va deed showing that the land sherwood harris purchased of richard henderson adjoined william harris and was in david harris' line. Louisa Co, Va Deed Book A, Page 283: Grantor: Shirwood Harris, Grantee: Nelson Anderson, Date: 05-Feb-1746 Shirwood Harris of St. Paul's Par. Hanover Co. to Nelson Anderson of St. Paul's Par.
