    1. [HARRIS-HUNTERS] Atkins of Hanover, Orange & P.E. Co. VA, Re: re harris/ saxons/ lewis atkins
    2. Carol E Barron
    3. same-----was and/ or how was this lewis atkins in edgecombe co, nc related to the lewis atkins of hanover co, va? Belva, most likely those in NC were from the 4 Atkins' brothers who migrated from Prince Edward Co. VA to NC ca 1777 & they were affiliated back in P.E. Co. VA with Davison's, Mumford DeJarnette, Baldwin's & an early marriage to an Estes. Micajah Harris of P.E. Co. had a son, Thompson Harrris m Franky Davison 1780 in Charlotte Co. VA, they then went to Anson Co. NC abt 1781/82, then to Montgomery Co. NC. I was sent a large Atkins worksheet/timeline & they (Atkins) start out in King & Queen Co. VA then to Amelia Co. which later fell into Prince Edward Co....then they left ca 1777 for NC. As yet, I don't believe the P.E. Co. group has been linked to the Lewis Atkins of Hanover Co. or to the Atkins of Orange Co. VA but one would think there's some kind of connection between these groups due to location/timing & name affiliations. I would say there's more likely a link with Lewis Atkins of Hanover Co. with my Orange Co. Harris line...John Atkins & Susannah Brockman had eldest child Franky/Frances Atkins b 1754/55 & I believe she married my Lindsay Harris of Orange Co. VA...certainly many of Lindsay & Frances children bear some Atkins names of Hezekiah, Brockman, Susannah. In 1737 Partridge Accounts, Hanover Co., Lewis Atkins purchased 2 boys hats, a clue to possible sons but who these sons were is unknown, at least to me. Partridge - p. 85 Mr. Lewis Atkins. Jul. 20, 1736 (2 Psalters @ 1/6, 2 qr paper @ 1/6, 1 testament 0.2.6.); Oct. 9 (pd Mary Harris); Nov. 6, 15; Dec. 23; May 13; Jun. 15 (2 boys hatts, 1 youths Do., 1 Reap Sickle, 6 doz. pipes); Jul. 28. Credits: May 14, 1737 (1 Hhd. Tobo., carried to D p. 3). There were some marriages in Orange Co. VA of the daughters of Lindsay Harris (after his death in 1802) that had Atkins names as guardian, bondsman, etc., i.e., Joseph Atkins & Hezekiah Atkins plus I found the below marriage record which has Lewis Harris in 1808 as surety for Patsy Atkins. So, it would not surprise me to find that my Harris line, while in Hanover Co. in 1734, had close ties to the Lewis Atkins family there. Orange Co.
