Belva, Thanks for the information. As you know, the descendancy chart that I made up for Bill Harris was based largely on information given to me by Bill Harris, although I did add some data of a minor nature, such as the McClain name and the fact that the parents of Robert B. Harris were both born in Georgia, presumably about 1790. Bill told me that his grandfather was John William Harris, born 1868, died 1921. I have to believe that Bill knew who his grandfather was, as most of us have personal knowledge and family records for our grandfather and great grandfather. Bill is also certain that his great grandfather was James Harris, born 1847, son of Robert B. Harris, born 1818. These 3 generations: Robert B. Harris/James Harris/John William Harris are confirmed by the Alabama census records of 1850 Benton County; 1860 Calhoun County; 1870 Clebourne County and 1880 DeKalb County. I have received copies of all of these census records and they do prove the lineage, in my opinion. I understood that this part of the Bill Harris line had already been confirmed and that your research with Bill was mostly concerned with finding the father of Robert B. Harris, and that Charles Harris had been considered a possibility, up until the time that Bill's DNA results were released. Beyond that, I haven't a clue as to the identity of the father of Robert B. Harris, at the present time. It's almost as if Robert dropped into Benton County, Alabama from outer space. Based on the 1840 census of Benton County, it appears he was traveling alone, or with individuals not named Harris. Sincerely, James E. Hargraves Harris DNA group 30.
