If you are interested in Harrises [and their neighbors] of colonial Virginia and Albemarle Cos., VA, you probably would like to look over some Road Orders for these two counties, Louisa and Albemarle counties.. Other Virginia counties' road orders have also been published, but offhand, I cannot recall the counties. You might look into a search on google.com for the name Nathaniel Pawlett and also Ann Miller. Pawlett was/is Research Historian. Virginia Highway & Transportation Research Council. (Ann Miller compiled other such booklets for Virginia road orders. Ann L. Miller Senior Research Scientist / Historian Virginia Transportation Research Council. I believe she is also/ or was/ historian for Orange Co., VA, which is in the neighborhood.) Here is the URL for Louisa Co. road orders 1742-1748. The index is about page 37. Remove any extra punctuation fore and aft, which I am told is affixed by AOL, not rootsweb. _www.virginiadot.org/vtrc/main/online_reports/pdf/75-r43.pdf_ (http://www.virginiadot.org/vtrc/main/online_reports/pdf/75-r43.pdf) For Albemarle Co. _www.virginiadot.org/vtrc/main/online_reports/pdf/75_ (http://www.virginiadot.org/vtrc/main/online_reports/pdf/75) if these don't work, do a web search for Nathaniel Pawlett. There are other road orders and other books by Pawlett, including for Three Notched Road [have I got that right?] I think I spied a booklet about the road orders of Brunswick Co, from which several southside counties was formed, and which included folks on their way to North Carolina.
