Davis owned 200 acres, and his son Martin owned 100 acres. Their land was between the North Anna, or Pamunkey River and the head of Herring Creek. It was on about the line, of the later Caroline County. Davis is mentioned in the will of Martin, his son; in which "100 acres of land left to me by my father, Davis Davenport", is passed on to Martin's son, William. Davis had two other sons besides Martin; Thomas and Richard, and a daughter, also. Martin Davenport -(c1675-1735) was born in King William County , Virginia He died in Hanover County in Virginia. Land records of February 27, 1727 show that he purchased 400 acres of new land on the South side of the North Anna River, at the mouth of Little Rocky Creek. It was near the present town of Beaverdam, Virginia. again, the info shows that john davenport, who died 1807 laurens co, sc and who was a purchaser at my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers 1800 laurens co, sc estate sale, was the son of william davenport/ ann arnold and that this augustine davenport, who married mary harris, was his brother. also, per the info, this was his cousin john smith davenport who married lucy barksdale, sister of nathan barksdale, who married mary allen, sister of charles allen, jr/ lucy bacon smith, children of charles allen, sr of lunenburg co, va. again, it was charles, jr and lucy bacon allen smith's daughter mary/ polly allen, who married ca 1795 laurens co, sc our john l. harris, brother of my charles harris, sons of my/ our william harris, jr/ frances rodgers. the following info re william davenport/ ann arnold showing that they had sons: john; thomas; and augustine davenport, who married mary harris, can also be found on a pamunkey davenport site: 10.
