here, again, are the halifax co, va deeds showing that this william harris, wife, elizabeth, who pat seaver and sandy hart are interested in as being their harris ancestor, was also involved with this same rickman family there in halifax co, va, and which pat seaver had posted previously. again, this is certainly both relevant and also amazing to me that this is/ was the same rickman/ blocker/ griffin family also involved with my harris and cannon familes. i cannot think that it is merely coincidence that redding blocker, who would have been the great-grandson of edward kirksey/ rebecca rickman, daughter of this thomas rickman of halifax co, va, was adjacent my arch harris/ elizabeth carter, per this 1834 ga state census for cobb co, ga. so, here, as i say, are the halifax co, va deeds which pat seaver had posted previously re her interest in this william harris, wife, elizabeth, who were also involved with the rickmans and the hudsons there in halifax co, va. There was also a William Elizabeth Harris in Halifax Co, VA with a wife named Elizabeth: Halifax County, VA Deed Book 12 p. 310 30 sep 1782 from William Harris of H, to Nathaniel Vasser of H, for 500 £, about 100 acres in Halifax, and bounded by Nathaniel Frances, William Harris, Oliver Prindle. Signed William Harris. Wit-Robert Rickman, John Harris, James Harris. Recorded 15 may 1783. Elizabeth, the wife of the said William Harris, voluntarily relinquished her right of dower to the lands conveyed. Halifax County, VA Deed Book 14 p. 466. 1 jul 1789 from William Harris of H, to Nathaniel Vassar of H, for 15£, about 50 acres in H, and bounded by James Harris, Josiah Strange, Nathaniel Vassar. Signed-William Harris. Wit-Moses Dunckly, Josiah Strange, Bernard Harris. Recorded 27 jul 1789. Elizabeth, the wife of the sd William Harris, relinquished her right of dower. Halifax County, VA Deed Book 14 p. 467. 1 jul 1789 from William Harris of H, to Bernard Harris of H, for 15£, about 50 acres in H, and bounded by James Harris, Josiah Strange, Morris Campbell. Signed William Harris. Wit-Nathaniel Vassar, Moses Dunckley, Josiah Strange. Recorded 27 jul 1789. Elizabeth, the wife of the sd William Harris, relinquished her right of dower. (William and Elizabeth Harris gave their consent for Barnard Harris to marry Anne Askew 3 dec 1786 Halifax Co, VA) pat seaver wrote---a trail of other land records leads me to believe that the William Harris of the above cited deeds is the same as the one named in the following deeds: Halifax County, VA Deed Book 11 p. 154 19 nov 1778 from Thomas Tunks of H to William Harris of Amelia county, for 350 £, 400 acres in H, and bounded by William Bolling’s Path. Signed Thos. Tunks. Wit John Coleman, Abram Legrand, Mordecai Rucker Recorded 19 nov 1778 (Bolling's Path was located in the vicinity of Difficult Creek, according to Roger C. Dodson's Property Lines from an Old Survey Book: Halifax County, Virginia 1741 to 1901). Halifax County, VA Deed Book 11 p. 281 9 mar 1779 from Stephen Jones of H, to William Harris of H, for 190 £ about 300 acres in H on Difficult Cr, bounded by the lands of Morris Campbell, Stephen Wade, Charles Stokes, said William Harris. Recorded 15 jul 1779 Halifax County, VA Deed Book 11 p. 298 15 jul 1779 from William Harris of H to Nathaniel Vasser of Amelia county, for 245 £, about 200 acres in H and bounded by the lands of John Richman, John Standley, Charles Stokes, said Harris. Signed William Harris. Wit none Recorded 15 jul 1779 Halifax County, VA Deed Book 11 p. 335 15 sep 1779 from Nathaniel Vasser of Amelia County, to Oliver Pringle of same, for 600 £, about 200 acres in H, and bounded by William Harris, Jno Harris, Charles Stokes, John Richman, Robert Richman. Signed Nathaniel Vasser Wit none Rec. 16 sep 1779 Halifax County, VA Deed Book 12 p. 291 30 sep 1782 from William Harris of H, to James Harris of H, for 1500 £, about 175 acres in H, and bounded by Stephen Wade, Moses Camel, William Harris, and Nathaniel Francis. Signed William Harris Wit Robert Rickman, John Harris, Nathaniel Vasser rec 18 apr 1783 (my note----the following deed seems to indicate that this william harris', who was also involved with the rickmans, etc, that his wife was named jane----not elizabeth. so, was this a different william harris from the william harris, wife, elizabeth, and/ or who was this jane harris?) 1783 Nov 5 - Halifax Co., Va. - pg 395- A deed from Oliver Pringle of Halifax to Josiah Strange of Lunnenburg County for 70 pounds 200 acres in Halifax bounded by Morriss Cammill, Robert Rickman, John Rickman, Elizabeth Stokes, John Harris, Nathaniel Francis, Nathaniel Vassar, and William Harris. Witnesses: John Stanley, William Harris, and Jane Harris. Recorded Feb. 19, 1784. pat seaver's post continued: There are numerous Halifax Co. records of this William Harris, who apparently came to Halifax Co. about 1778 from Amelia Co. and then sold property to various other former Amelia Co. residents. Records also show that William and sons Barnard and Elijah moved to Patrick Co, VA in the very early 1800s, where William died @1816. Based on the fact that this William Harris lived until about 1816 and had a son (Barnard) born about 1768, I estimate William's DoB at between 1725 and 1748. I am interested in any information about William's pre-Halifax Co. connections and how he might have been related to James Harris, John Harris, Oliver Pringle and Nathaniel Vasser, all of Amelia Co. Nathaniel Vassar is said to have been the son of Abraham and Rhoda (Harris) Vassar and to have married Sarah Hudson, d/o Peter and Mourning (Hill?) Hudson, Jr. I believe that William Harris of Amelia/Halifax/Patrick Co. was too young to be Rhoda (Harris) Vassar's father. Pat Seaver again, what is of interest to me, other than i am interested in my william harris, sr/ frances goode being the son, william, of william harris/ judith hudson, who was the daugher of peter hudson, sr and who were all also there in this same lunenburg/ halifax cos, va area, is again why it is that we share such an involved, mutual interest in these same families, which now includes this same rickman family, etc. to be continued: belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8-------26910
