i was actually looking for further info on the davenport family, which led me to info on the depriest family and i noted something interesting that i do not think we have noted or talked about before.   this george sutherland, jr both witnessed and paid the security re samuel harris' will in 1799 in pittsylvania co, va.   again, this was the same samuel harris, who william harris/ judith hudson sold the island/ plantation to in 1750 in lunenburg co, va, which was witnessed by john cargill, sr/ rachel tinsley and william hunt.   ----the same samuel harris, who was on the 1748/ 1749 early lunenburg co, va tithe list along with william harris/ judith hudson;  my william harris, sr/ frances goode; my mackerness goode, sr; peter hudson, sr; john wilborn, etc, and all in cornelius cargill's district, which is the area that became halifax co, va.   -----the same samuel harris, who, then, per the lunenburg co, va deeds i have cited in the past, continued to be involved with john cargill, sr/ rachel tinsley in this halifax co, va area and who, like my harris and goode family, obtained these ca 1770 grants in laurens co, sc where they continued to be significantly involved with each other there.   -----the same samuel harris, who married lucy camp, who  became col and, then, the noted baptist minister rev samuel harris, who stated that he was born in 1724 near the pamunkey river in hanover co, va and who died in 1799 in pittsylvania co, va.   i have noted, then, per info on the depriest family, that this george sutherlin/ sutherland, who, again, both witnessed and paid security re the will of samuel harris, is definitely indicated to have been the same george sutherland, who married mary depriest and who died in 1804  also in pittsylvania co, va.   mary depriest, per this info on the depriest family, was the daughter of william depriest/ judith randolph, son of robert depriest, wife, elizabeth, of new kent/ hanover cos, va.   again, carol barron's ancestor thomas harris is a harris dna match with our harris dna group 8 and carol's ancestor thomas harris of st martin's parish, hanover co, va was, along with this stephen davis, were also involved with this robert harris and the depriest family.   patte wood descends from this same stephen davis and besides her interest in stephen davis, patte is also interested in the morton family of prince edward co, va, who was also involved there with my simcock cannon, grandfather of my jane cannon harris, and also this captain robert harris in charlotte co, va.   to be continued:   belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8------26910
