per the info william griffin/ sarah kirksey/ elizabeth stroud, who was the grandfather of redding blocker enumerated adjacent my arch harris/ elizabeth carter, per this 1834 ga state census for cobb co, ga, was the son of richard griffin/ mary green also of lunenburg co, va.   if this were the case, then, these connections re the griffins and hudsons would be a lot more relevant and involved, but since i cannot confirm this, i will not talk about these potentially also relevant griffin connections, etc, in this area.   i do have more to say, however, about these griffin connections with our harris and cannon family, etc, there in this laurens/ pendleton cos, sc area.   again, my arch harris is shown to have married my/ our elizabeth carter ca 1826 even before our harris and carter families left this laurens co, sc area.   her father, my robert carter, jr, stated, per a voter's registration oath in 1867 in paulding co, ga that he was born august 5, 1780 in laurens co, sc.    our robert carter, jr was involved with the 1828  laurens co, sc estate of his nephew robert carter, son of his brother, zimry carter.     an item from this robert carter's 1828 laurens co, sc estate papers states that our robert carter, jr had moved "leaving his receipts with zimry carter which were examined in january of 1830."   this shows that my/ our robert carter, jr did not move to gwinnett co, ga until probably the latter part of 1829 and the 1830 census for gwinnett co, ga shows that my arch harris/ elizabeth carter were living in proximity to him and that they already had two children by 1830:   their oldest daughter, rachel caroline harris b ca 1827, later married in paulding co, ga zachariah austin; their oldest son, william "abraham" harris b ca 1829, married before1850 in paulding co, ga mary cohran, daughter of john cohran, sr, and our abraham harris died in 1860 in cleburne co, al.   my arch harris/ elizabeth carter's son, my g-g-grandfather james harris/ anne cooper was born ca 1831 and he died in 1872 in paulding co, ga.   there are laurens co, sc deeds that connect our charles harris/ jane cannon with the same pinson and puckett families, who were also involved with our robert carter, sr and jr in laurens co, sc and info which also shows that our charles harris was one of the sons of our william harris, jr/ frances rodgers, who died in 1799 in laurens co, sc.    the only persons i have found interested in our william harris, jr/ frances rodgers in laurens co, sc was that i corresponded early on in my research in laurens co, sc with mary mc laughlin aikman, whose ancestor john mc laughlin married before 1800 laurens co, sc sarah goode harris, sister of my/ our charles harris/ jane cannon.   what was also interesting about this is that this was also mary's john and sarah goode harris mc laughlin's son, charles frederick mc laughlin, who married 1st in perry co, al serena tubbs;  married 2nd in kemper co, ms her dorcas cannon, daughter of william cannon/ celia barton.   her william cannon was the son of russell cannon, who we now know for sure and has been confirmed by our cannon dna, was the brother of our richard cannon/ elizabeth cole, who were the parents of our jane cannon harris.  her russell cannon and our richard cannon were the sons of our simcock cannon/ jane rudd.   this was also celia barton cannon's sister, averilla barton, who married sergant griffin, who was the also the son of william griffin by his 2nd wife elizabeth stroud and who was the 1/2 brother of rosannah griffin blocker and whose son redding blocker was enumerated, again, adjacent my arch harris/ elizabeth carter per this 1834 ga state census for cobb co, ga.   here is info from a rootsweb post re the stroud and griffin families showing that sergant griffin married averilla barton.   STROUD-L ArchivesArchiver > STROUD > 1998-02 > 0888453102 From: < [email protected]> Subject: [STROUD-L] Stroud and Griffin Date: Wed, 25 Feb 1998 19:31:42 EST Researching Strouds and Griffins.
