there are many of these rootsweb family tree sites showing that averilla barton, who married sergant griffin, 1/2 brother of rosannah griffin blocker and her sister celia barton, who married william cannon, were the daughters of benjamin barton/ dorcas anderson of spartanburg and pendleton cos, sc. instead, i am going to post the info by cecilie gaziano, who descends from carter cannon, brother of william cannon/ celia barton, sons also of her russell cannon, brother of our richard cannon/ elizabeth cole, sons of our simcock cannon/ jane rudd. the only correction to this list, thus far, is that this sterling cannon once believed to be a son of our related william cannon/ celia barton is not his son and this was also confirmed by our cannon dna. again, charles frederick mc laughlin, who married dorcas cannon, daughter of william cannon/ celia barton, was the son of our john mc laughlin/ sarah goode harris, sister of our charles harris/ jane cannon. again, redding blocker, son of michael blocker/ rosannah griffin, was enumerated adjacent my arch harris/ elizabeth carter, per this 1834 ga state census for cobb co, ga, and this was his mother rosannah griffin blocker's 1/2 brother sergant griffin, who married averilla barton and who was the sister of celia barton cannon, wife of william cannon. again, i consider all of these connections, which i have talked about and which i agree are very involved, to be important and relevant connections. again, i am also interested in the complexity of how this was my/ our harris and cannon families involved, as shown, with the blockers/ griffins/ rickmans are indicated to have also been involved with this william harris, wife, elizabeth, who pat seaver and sandy hart believe is their harris ancestor, etc. again, i think there must be answers to our involved, mutual interests but, for now, i just do not know what they are? this is from post # 4299 on the cannon forum by cecilie gaziano and also see post # 4417. I have compiled a list of 16 children. I have not tried to prove this information because William is not my direct line (his brother Carter is). There may be one or two who don't belong, but for now, this is what I have: 1. William CANNON Col. (b.1779;d.1843) sp: Cecelia or Cecilia "Selah" BARTON (b.1786;m.1801;d.1840) 2. Benjamin Harrison CANNON (b.1802;d.1850) sp: Sarah W. 2. Charlotte CANNON (b.1804;d.1850) sp: Nathaniel Hooper PERRY (b.1802;d.1841) 2. BARKSDALE (b.1819;d.1849) 2. James M. CANNON (b.1828;d.1889) sp: perhaps CARTER (b.1828) Others have added 2 more children, born in 1838 and 1840, but 2 children that young do not fit the 1840 Kemper Co., MS, census for William & Cecelia (Barton) Cannon. William's family was in the 1810 and 1820 Pendleton District, SC, censuses, and in the 1830 Tuscaloosa Co., AL, census, in addition to the 1840 Kemper Co., MS, one. # there are a couple of final things i also want to mention. our john and sarah goode harris mc laughlin moved by 1820 to franklin co, tn and by 1830 to perry/ marion cos, al where they both died there. info shows that by 1850, redding blocker had also moved to marion co, al. i do not know whether he had any connections there with our john and sarah goode harris mc laughlin in this same area of al or not but it would be interesting to know this? redding blocker's family are shown to have married into the cantrell family and to have also moved to the itwamba co, ms area. again, our charles harris/ jane cannon is on the 1850 itwamba co, ms census with their sons: richard harris; ransom b. harris; and cannon harris. again, i also do not know if the cantrells, etc, were involved with our charles harris and his sons in this itawamba co, ms area either? to be continued: belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8--------26910
