    3. this post got sent before i was through with it and i have no idea what key i accidentially hit for it to be sent and/ or to be sent a number of times!!   pat   i am going to respond to both your posts re this samuel harris, wife, ann, and this nehemiah franks but it will just take me time to do this.   first of all, i wish myself that there were more people interested in the harris families and these same families in lunenburg co, va and who knew more about them.   all i can do is cite what i have noted per these lunenburg co, va deeds, etc, and what this info does show and indicate to me.    i am definitely interested in this nehemiah franks.  you are right he is definitely shown to have been involved with edward harris, sr and his sons there on twitty's creek, per these lunenburg co/ charlotte co, va deeds and he was the same nehemiah frank/ franks who also moved to laurens co, sc.   the following laurens co, sc deed associates nehemiah franks there with james mc lauglin and charles allen.   laurens co, sc deed book B, page 234, 1787, nehemiah franks to marshall franks for 50 pds, 50 acres, part of grant to charles allen in 1773, conveyed to nehemiah franks in 1774.  witnesses:  james mc laughlin; william turner.     this was james mc lauglin's son john mc laughlin, who married before 1800 laurens co, sc our sarah goode harris, sister of my/ our charles harris/ jane cannon, children of our william harris, jr/ frances rodgers who died in 1799 in laurens co, sc.   again, this was charles allen, jr/ lucy bacon, son of charles allen, sr also of lunenburg co, va. charles allen, jr died in laurens co, sc and his widow lucy bacon allen remarried charles smith.   again, it was charles allen, jr/ lucy bacon smith's  daughter mary/ polly allen, who also married before or ca 1800 in laurens co, sc our john l. harris, also brother of my charles harris/ jane cannon, sons  also of our william harris, jr/ frances rodgers.   again, in regard to the allens, charles allen, sr is shown, per these lunenburg co, va deeds, to have been involved there with james burton, jr and sr, whose son thomas burton also moved to and died in laurens co, sc.   lunenburg co, va deed book 6, page 107, 1760, silvanus walker, jr of lunenburg co, va and his wife, sarah, to charles allen of same for 250 pds, 200 acres in lunenburg co, va on the north side of the staunton river bounded by ornsby; goode.  signed: silvanus walker, jr.  witnesses:  william perry; james burton, jr; mary perry, her mark.  sarah, wife of silvanus walker, jr, relinquised her dower rights.   lunenburg co, va deed book 6, page 121, 1760, james burton of lunenburg co, va to silvanus walker, jr of same for 100 pds, 200 acres on the north side of the staunton river and bounded by ornsby and goode.  signed:  james burton.  witnesses:  charles allen, william perry.  mary perry, her mark. judith, wife of james burton, reliquished her dower rights.   again, it was also james burton, sr's daughter agnes burton who married james hudson, son of peter hudson, sr and james burton was also named as a legatee of peter hudson, sr.   again, land my charles harris/ jane cannon owned in laurens co, sc with james holley had belonged previously to sylvanus walker, and bordered on lydall allen, who was also the son of charles allen, jr/ lucy bacon smith and involved some kind of suit with thomas burton.   laurens co, sc deed book J, page 64, 1809, john clark, sheriff, to james holley and charles harris for $53, 150 acres former property of silvanus walker on raborn creek bordered on jonathan downs; lydall allen; robert creswell, sold by writ of fi fa at suit of exix and exor of thomas burton, deceased.  witnesses:  william irby;  john mc harg; john garlington, c.c   so, these connections are just very involved period and how does one single out what is the most important and relevant connection or connections?   the thing is nehemiah franks is not the only marker or certainly the earliest for my interest in my william harris, sr/ frances goode and my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers from this lunenburg co, va area on into laurens co, sc.   instead, the earliest markers for my william harris, sr/ frances goode and my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers both there in this lunenburg co, va area and on into laurens co, sc would be my mackerness goode, sr; john cargill, sr/ rachel tinsley; and their son, cornelius cargill, who also by 1770 had obtained these grants in laurens co, sc and who continued to be significantly involved with each other there, which, again, i have cited many times, per both these grants in laurens co, sc and these connections there in lunenburg co, va.   edward harris, sr's sons stephen harris and edward harris, jr are not indicated to have moved to laurens co, sc until 1790/ 1800.   again, as i have said in the past, there are certainly things, per both the records there both in this lunenburg co, va area, as well as in laurens co, sc, which have always indicated to me that my william harris, sr/ frances goode and their son, my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers, who died in 1799 in laurens co, sc, were related to edward harris, sr and his sons but the question has always been to me ----------is how were/ are they related?   again, it was not until both our harris descendants participated in the harris dna project that i knew for sure that we were/ are related harris families.   and who, again, is/ was this edward harris, sr in lunenburg/ charlotte co, va whose sons stephen harris and edward harris, jr also moved to laurens co, sc?   are we still trying to figure out who this edward harris, sr was and when do we think this edward harris, sr was born, etc?   of course, we only have two choices-----either this edward harris, sr is descending from our william harris/ mary giles (?) b ca 1672 or his brother, edward harris b ca 1674, sons of our major william harris, whose widow, alice, re-married george alvis.       belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8-------26910
