pat again, we have corresponded before in regard to this samuel harris, wife, ann, and, again, i cannot totally identify him but in reviewing, i have noted some things that are relevant and certainly interesting. the only other samuel harris i know, who may have also been there in lunenburg co, va, is the samuel harris, who was the son of william harris/ judith hudson. first, here is the info you just posted re this samuel harris, wife, ann. >From Lunenburg Co. Deed Bk 7-127 June 3, 1761 from James Roberts Jr of Halifax County, to Samuel Harris of Lunenburg] and Cumberland Parish, for the yearly rent of the quitrents, have leased and do farm and let a certain tract of land in L and Cumberland Parish on the******** north side of Meherrin River containing 200 acres, it being the land laid off by***** George Walton *****for John Loving, unto the said Harris and his wife ******Ann during each of their natural lives, with the improvements and all other appurtenances belonging to the land. To the performance of this deed, Roberts binds himself in the sum of 200 pds., to be paid to Harris after the 1st breach of these articles above mentioned. Signed - James Roberts. Wit - none. Recorded June 2, 1761 [?] (Source: TLC Genealogy, LUNENBURG COUNTY, VIRGINIA DEED BOOKS 7 & i[1761-1764] [Miami Beach: TLC Genealogy, 1990], p. 17) (This Samuel Harris, wife Ann is different from the Samuel Harris, Baptist, ) lunenburg co, va deed book 6, page 124, 1759, james roberts, jr of halifax co, va to ****michael johnson of lunenburg, part obtained in patent by ****gidion johnson***** for 600 acres, except as it is already leased to *****samuel harris, joyner, for 5 years. wit: john chandler; saml harris; charles gravett. So...this Samuel Harris is a joyner [carpenter] and he has a wife Ann. He still lives north of the Meherrin in 1776 and he is born at least by 1738. His lands came from George Walton who shared a border on Reece's Fork of Twitty's Creek. His first lease with James Roberts was for 5 years, and later he had a lifetime lease with Claiborne. # again, this was my william harris, sr/ frances goode, who had a grant for a 1000 acres there in lunenburg co, va in 1752. in 1755, he sold 900 acres of this land to william reade and the other 100 acres to william tibbs per, again, the following lunenburg co, va deeds. lunenburg co, va deed book 4, page 213, 1755, william harris of lunenburg co, va to william reade of same for 160 pds, 900 acres at the head branches of the bluestone creek, bounded by a new line, william tibbs, william harriss' old line. signed: william harriss. witnesses: robert wooding; thomas bedford; william jones. frances, wife of william harris, relinquised her right of dower. lunenburg co, va deed book 4, p.209: William HARRIS of Lunenburg, to William TIBBS, for £10, a certain tract of land in L (being part of HARRISS’ tract he since sold to Mr. William READ), and bounded by HARRISS’ new line, containing about 100 acres. Signed: William HARRISS. Wit: ROBERT WOODING, Thos. BEDFORD, Wm JONES. Rec. Oct 7, 1755 after Frances, the wife of the said William, relinquished her right of dower. this was also my william harris, sr/ frances goode, who would have also witnessed the following lunenburg co, va deed wherein william reade sold 100 of these acres to john hight. lunenburg co, va deed book 4, page 201, 1755, william reade of lunenburg co, va to john hight of same for 16 pds, 100 acres in lunenburg on the head branches of the bluestone creek, being part of a tract of land patented in the name of william harris on nov 13, 1752 and by him conveyed to me by a deed yesterday and bounded by new lines. signed: william reade. witnesses: william marable; henry may; william harris. then, i have also noted that there is this lunenburg co, va deed which also connects both william reade and john hight with this same james roberts, jr, who was also connected with samuel harris, wife, ann. so, again, these connections are certainly interesting. lunenburg co, va deed book 4, page 123, william reade of lunenburg co, va to john hight of same for 16 pds, 100 acres in lunenburg and bounded by goode, bluestone creek, it being part of a tract of 1000 acres patented to william harris nov 13, 1752. signed: william reade. witnesses: matthew marable; james roberts, jr; samuel johnson. recorded june 3, 1755. hannah, wife, of william reade, relinquished her right of dower. again, it is this same james roberts, jr, who is shown to have leased this land to samuel harris, wife, ann, which you just posted, who was, like my william harris, sr/ frances goode, also involved with william reade and john hight------interesting. again, and also, per the info, john hight's wife, mary, was a reade either a daughter or sister of william reade and it was john hight/ mary reade's son reade/ reid hight who was the bondsman for david harris' marriage to rebecca gilbert in burke co, nc. this david harris/ rebecca gilbert is stated to have been the son of minyard harris and grandson of our edward harris, sr of lunenburg/ charlotte co, va whose sons, stephen harris and edward harris, jr also moved to laurens co, sc. so, again, these connections are certainly interesting and essentially do connect this samuel harris, wife, ann, also with the same individuals/ families there in lunenburg/ halifax cos, va. i will keep continue to review and re-study info re this james roberts, jr, etc. belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8--------26910
