i do not know who mary harris was, or her parents, who married augustine davenport, except i note also that a number of these rootsweb site show that she was the daughter of  willliam harris/ henrietta baker, including this post by cynthia harris osborne.   i have tried for years to get in touch with cynthia harris osborne.   cynthia harris osborne descends from our charles harris/ jane cannon's son cannon harris, who married 1843 in benton, now cleburne co, al, frances poss.   mickey woods, who descends from our arch harris/ elizabeth carter's daughter elizabeth harris, who married his obadiah hooper in 1865 in cleburne co, al, learned from cynthia harris osborne that this was our charles harris/ jane cannon and their 3 sons: her cannon harris; ransom b. harris; and richard harris, all living adjacent each other, and this jasper wright, on the 1850 census for itawamba co, ms.    our jane cannon harris was not with our charles harris.  instead, she is on the 1850 census for paulding co, ga living adjacent or near our james and lucinda harris carter.  james carter was the son of my/ our robert carter, jr and brother of my elizabeth carter harris.   again, this was richard harris' 2nd wife, emeline ingram wright harris, widow of jasper wright, and her daughter hannah jane wright by jasper wright, who gave the affadavits in 1872 in cleburne co, al, stating that our charles harris died in 1865 in greene co, arkansas.   mickey woods had corresponded with cynthia harris osborne several years before he corresponded with me.  since mickey did  not have a copy of our jane cannon harris war of 1812 pension papers re our charles harris, etc, he could not make sense of what cynthia was saying to him.  so, they did not continue to correspond.   again, by the time, i tried to correspond with cynthia harris osborne, i could get no reponse from her per any of these posts she has put on line per these rootsweb sites, etc.    i cannot say myself that because john davenport was a purchaser at my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers 1800 laurens co, sc estate sale that his brother augustine daveport's wife, mary harris, was related harris family.   i also cannot say just because cynthia harris osborne descended from our charles harris/ jane cannon's son cannon harris and she also shows an interest in this augustine davenport/ mary harris, again, that mary harris davenport was related harris family.   i just do not know.   what is needed, of course, like any of these harris lines we are having confusion about is to find actual harris descendants of these harris lines and families to be tested in our harris dna project.    here, to follow, is the post by cynthia harris osborne showing, as i say, her interest in augustine davenport/ mary harris:   The Tennessee Campbell Clan Entries: 93370    Updated: Mon Sep 1 01:57:33 2003    Contact: Cynthia Osborne    Home Page: The Tennessee Campbells Welcome to the Tennessee Campbells and the NC Harris Family Index | Pedigree | Ahnentafel | Download GEDCOM | Add Post-em ID: I043649 Name: Mary Harris Sex: F Birth: 10 Feb 1728/29 in Hanover Co., VA Death: 1819 Father: William Harris b: 1724 in Ann River, St. Pauls Parish, Hanover Co., VA Mother: Henrietta Baker b: ABT 1722 in Hanover Co., VA Marriage 1 Augustine Davenport b: 1728 Married: ABT 1738 in St. Martins Parish, Louisa Co., VA     belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8-------26910
