Thomas Harris [of Granville Co, NC] to Sherwood Harris son of Sherwood Harris, Deceased, of same County, 1779, for 100 pounds lawfull money, one certain tract or parcel of land 160 acres, be the same more or less, & is the tract of land given the said Sherwood Harris by his father Sherwood Harris, Deceased, in his last will & testament which runs in these words I give & bequeath to my loving son Sherwood Harris 160 acres of land which I purchased of Jonathan White together with the plantation where Henry White formerly lived to him & his heirs forever. Thomas Harris. Witness: Ephraim Hampton, John Miner Jurat. Granville County November Court 1779. This deed was duly proved by the oath of John Miner & ordered to be Registered. Reuben Searcy CC. Truly Registered Pr M. Satterwhite PR. 7- (5,6). Sherwood Harris of Granville Co., NC to John Duncan in Amelia County, Virginia, 1 November 1779, for 2000 pounds lawfull money of North Carolina, one certain tract or parcel of land lying & being situate in Granville County aforesaid containing 160 acres, be the same more or less & is the tract of land given the said Sherwood Harris by his father Sherwood Harris, Deceased, in his last will & testament which runs in these words I give & bequeath to my son Sherwood Harris 160 acres of land which I purchased of Jonathan White together with the plantation whereon Henry White formerly live to him & his heirs forever. Sherwood Harris, Jane (X) Hedspeth. Witness: George Bristow Senior, James Bristow. Granville County November Court 1779. Phillip Chavis acknowledged this deed to be his & deed which was ordered to be registered, then Jane Hedspeth relict of Sherwood Harris, Deceased, was privately examined by Thomas Banks, esquire, who reported that she freely relinquished her right to dower to the land by this deed conveyed. Reuben Searcy CC. Truly Registered Pr M. Satterwhite Pr Sherwood Harris (died before 1 November 1779) was the husband of Jane Hedspeth. They had a son named Sherwood.
