Below, I have cut & pasted all of the Harris road orders that I found online posted by the VA DoT. I'm going to post the Harris entries that I downloaded for one county at a time. I hope you find them helpful LUNENBURG CO 5 May 1746 Old Style, Page 6 William Harris is Appointed Surveyor of the Road from Blew Stone to Cargills Ferry on Staunton River And it is Ordered that all Male Labouring Tithable Persons convenient thereto assist in Clearing the same. 5 February 1748 O. S., Page 102 Ordered that a Road be laid off and Cleared the nearest and best way from the Ridge road that leads from Rutledges foard on Appomattox River to the Bridge over Little Ronoke, and Richard Hill is appointed Surveyor thereof and it is ordered he with the Male Labouring Tithable persons following, to wit, Owen Sullivant, Daniel Sullivant Jacob Stober, Ruben Roy, Capt John Ruffins Tithables at his Quarter, John Mount, John Mullins Stephen Collins & his, Thomas Rice, Charles Harris and those of Nanny Dabbs forthwith Clear and keep the same in Repair According to Law. 4 August 1752 N. S., Page 173 On the Motion of Hampton Wade, Henry Roberson is appointed Surveyor of the New Road appointed by an Order of this Court, from John Cargills, the best and most Convenient way into Coxís Road, And that he together with the Following male Labouring Tithable Persons, to wit, Cornelius Cargill & his male Labouring Tithable Persons, John Cargill & his, Samuel Harris & his, Colo. Byrds Overseer & the hands under his Care William Perry & his, William Roberts & his, Those of the Estate of Tandy Walker Decd., George Mosly & his & Robert Wade Sr. & his, forthwith Clear and keep the same in Repair According to Law. 5 August 1752 N. S., Page 221 Samuel Moreton is appointed Surveyor so much of the Road that leads from the upper Bridge on Little Roanoke River, to Charles Andersons, or shall be in this County, And it is Ordered that he together with the Following male Labouring tithable Persons, to wit, the male Labouring Tithables of him the said Samuel Morton, Robert Childress, Charles Harris, Owen Sullivant, William Cook, Christopher Gormer, & Philip Hudgins forthwith Clear & keep the same in in Repair According to Law. 1 September 1752 N. S., Page 231 On the Motion of William Marrable & others, It is Ordered that a Road be laid off & Clearíd from Mathew Marrables Crossing the South fork of Maherrin River above & Near Millers Quarter & from thence into John Coxís Road, And it is further Ordered that William Harris & McNess Goode do Search & Examine for the best & most Convenient Way for such Road and make Report to the Next court. 6 March 1753 N. S., Page 534 Ordered that William Harris and John Flin being first sworn before a Majistrate of this County according to Law, do View Examine and Search for the best and most Convenient way for a Road to be laid off and Clearíd from the Middle fork of Blew Stone Creek to this Courthouse and that they Return a Report thereof here to the Next Court. 6 November 1753 N. S., Page 512 On the Petition of John Wilborne, William Harris, John Roling, Augustine Roling, John Ragsdale, Benjamin Ragsdale & Steven Willis leave is Granted them to lay open and Clear a road the best & most Convenient Way from the Mouth of the Wood Pecker Creek into the road at this Court house, and the said John Wilborne is appointed Surveyor thereof. 6 November 1755, Page 44 Ordered that the following Persons be added to the Road whereof Samuel Johnson is Surveyor, to Assist the said Johnson in Clearing & keeping the Same Repaired, to wit, John Pleasants & Richard Wards Male Labouring Tithables, James Nelson, George Harris & John Butler 3 May 1757, Page 289 On the Petition of William Hunt & others for a Road from Colo Birds Mill to the Wood Pecker Creek, It is Ordered that William Harriss (Woodpecker) John Ragsdale and John Wilborne (being first Sworn &c) do View & Examine the Way Petitioníd for a Road, and Report to the next Court the Conveniency or inconveniency thereof 1 November 1757, Page 3 Ordered that a Road be laid Open and Cleared the best and most Convenient Way from the Road opposite to Abraham Martins House to Kings Road, and the said Abraham Martin is Appointed Surveyor thereof, and it is Ordered that he together with his Own Male Labouring Tithables, Abraham Vaughn, Robert Davis and his Son, Benjamin Adkins, Richard Ellis, William Ellis, John Sansum, Joshua Wharton, John Silcock, Edward Harris & William Gillum, do forthwith lay open Clear and keep the same in Repair According to Law. 1 November 1757, Page 4 William Harris and John Wilborne, being two of the Persons Appointed by this Court to View the Way for a Road from the Woodpecker Creek to Colo Birds Mill, this day Returned a Report thereon, which is Ordered to be Recorded and John Cox is Appointed Surveyor thereof and it Ordered that he together with Edward Willis and his hands, John Flin, Thomas Flynn, John Tomson, Jacob Royster and his hands, Loflin Flins hands and John Roberts do forthwith lay Open Clear and keep the same in Repair According to Law. 2 October 1759, Page 34 William Harris is appointed Overseer of the Road whereof William Hunt was late Overseer, and it is ordered, that he together with the Hands, that assisted the said Hunt clear and keep the same in repair according to Law. 3 June 1760, Page 128 William Robinson is appointed Surveyor of the road leadg. from the Court House to Wades Ferry, And it is ordered that he together with the following assistance, towit, The male labouring Tithable Persons belonging to Cornelius Cargill Gentleman John Cargill and his, John Camp and his, William Harris (Finney wood) and his, and the said Robersons hands, do forthwith Clear & keep the same in Repair According to Law. 8 December 1763, Page 300 On the Motion of Thomas Bedford Gentleman he has leave to open a Bridle way from his Mill to Martins Roling Road, and that the said Bedford have the directing of it And that Nehemiah Frank, Robert Davis, John Sullivant, Joshua Wharton, William Elliss, Richard Elliss, Benjamin Smith, Edward Harris and Maynard Harris do Assist iintended way -- but not to be Exhivitted from Working on other Roads
