In 1758 NC General Assembly the parish of St John was divided and the parish of Granville was created. These men named Harris were appointed Vestryman for Granville Parish. Robert Harris, Richard Harris Jun. Sharwood (Sherwood) Harris. The others that were appointed at the same time were Richard Henderson, Rueben Leary, Henry Howard, James Mitchell, Andrew Hampton, Thomas Lowe, Evan Ragland, William Benford, Darwin Elwick. There is a Daniel Harris appointed Vestryman in the St John parish. Can anyone give further information on these Harris men? They were no doubt men of prominence in the county. Eleanor Homewood
