i am going to talk about this first and, then, cite info. the info does show that it was this william harris/ mary of hanover/ louisa/ goochland cos, va, who was more involved with the cawthons and crenshaws, who, in turn, were also shown to have been more involved with george alvis, his son, david alvis and who, again, were also more involved with edward harris, brother of our william harris/ mary giles than with our william harris/ mary giles. again, both our william harris/ mary giles and his brother, edward harris, had moved with their mother, alice, and their stepfather, george alvis, by 1694 or earlier to new kent/ hanover cos, va. again, after our alice harris alvis died, george alvis is shown/ indicated to have re- married mary crenshaw. the records of hanover co, va show that our edward harris, son of our major william harris and brother of our william harris/ mary giles, was involved in a dispute with david crenshaw re the guardianship of david alvis, son of george alvis/ mary crenshaw. in hanover, there are also these items: (my info re these records is from wiggins: harris papers: new kent/ hanover cos, va.) the estate of david alvis, orphan of george alvis is brought to court and recorded. david crenshaw is admin of the estate of mary alvis, deceased, and the estate owes david alvis 10 pds 15 shillings, oct 1734. 1734, charles chiswell, richard clough, and michael holland meet, the parties being absent, in the case of david crenshaw lately guardian of david alvis, enfant, versus edward harris, his present guardian. the following records of new kent/ hanover cos, va also connect edward harris with the crenshaws and david alvis.
