hi peggy this is going to be really brief for now but there are no marriage records for a number of these. in regard to our william harris/ mary giles, and as i have said previously on harris hunters, it is no longer believed that she was a giles but in order to distinguish our william harris, son of our major william harris and stepson of our george alvis, from william harris/ temperance overton, etc, i have continued to call her/ them, william harris/ mary giles. we do know that her name was mary. again, there is also no marriage record for my william harris/ judith hudson but she is named as a daughter in her father's peter hudson, sr's 1752/ 1753 halifax co, va will and both my william harris/ judith hudson and my william harris, sr/ frances goode are the only william harrises in these early records for halifax/ lunenburg/ mecklenburg cos, va who are shown to have been definitely involved with each othe and, again, these same individuals and families, including my goode family. also, as i keep saying, there is this 1750 dodson survey for this land on wynn creek for william harris, sr and jr, and which became a patent for my william harris, sr/ frances goode in 1758, which clearly shows/ states that my william harris, sr/ frances goode was the son of my william harris/ judith hudson. recently i just cited the info that martha, widow of our peter hudson, sr, could not have been the mother of my judith hudson harris because both my william harris, sr/ frances goode and his brother reuben harris would have been born before martha married our peter hudson, sr. one often really has to look at other info to determine, if one can, wives and who their fathers were, etc, because, again, sorry to say, there are just no marriage records for a lot of these. belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8-------26910 --- On Mon, 1/19/09, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: From: [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [HARRIS-HUNTERS] re st paul's vestry book, new kent co, va, etc To: [email protected]ootsweb.com Date: Monday, January 19, 2009, 12:54 PM Would someone please post marriage documents, dates and places and other specific information (like wills, Douglas register, etc.) that specifically note maiden names, parents, etc for the following marriages: (I know I'm asking a lot here!!!!!) William Harris/Mary Giles (daughter of? William Harris/Temperence Overton (daughter of? William Harris/Judith Hudson (daughter of? William Harris/Mary Netherland William Harris/Elizabeth Evans Wiliam Harris/Mary 'Polly' Pollard William Harris/who married first a Mitchie and 2nd a Thompson William Harris/Lucy? William Harris/Mary Hiter William Harris/ Mary Todd William Harris/Mary Tyler William Harris/Diane Chisman Goodwin William Harris/ an Osborne William Harris/Anne Overton Harris I have all these names in my files and have no idea of the connection, if there is any!, between any of them. In my studies of the Harris surnames I too have become very confused. I just want to get it straight in my mind, about just which Harris belongs to whom, how, why and proof. I am beginning to believe that there have been marriages between unrelated Harris bloodlines and families which has confused the issue greatly. I have no idea at this point at just whom to connect my Capt William Harris/Mary Hudson (as recorded in the Douglas Register). I have Harris families that marry into Talley, Tate, Ware, for example. At this point I have no idea if they connect with my Capt William and Mary Hudson Harris at all. Yikes!!! As Belva says: "our harris dna group 8 and harris dna group 6 have been and continue to be a puzzle." And then there are the Harris DNA groups 24 and 30, and 2.
