There are several Overton's listed as buy land in Missouri, most in Boone County. See the list below from the BLM site. There ealiest was Feb 20 1819 in Chariton Co. and there was a Overton G who bought land the same time as an Overton, Nov 2 1837. They were still buying land up to Dec 28 1987. One could put forth and arguement that Overton G was a son of Overton. We know he was in Washington County VA in around Jan 1831 when a will of Augustine McGehee was recorded. John had married Amey McGehee daughter of Augustine and she had inherited some of the land Augustine owned in Washington Co VA. If you look at the BLM records there were many Harrises who came to Missouri in the early 1800's. Leon
