This book was a publication for young children published by Daniel Bradford and mailed to those young subscribers and probably some names are the father's name. There are names with numbers beside their names which indicates that child's age. Two Harrises are listed--one, John Harris in Lexington, Ky and another Eli Harris in Washington Co. Ky. Matthew H. Jouett is also listed under Lexington and Francis Flournoy of Pendleton. At the bottom are subscribers out of the State of Ky. Not much from a genealogical standpoint but interesting. http://www.rootsweb.com/~kyfayett/subscribers1807.htm

Dear Harris Hunters of Colonial Virginia, I did a www.google.com search for "Traveling Church" Several websites are listed, the second listing at least two Harrises: John Mary I did not search further. I did see listed a collateral of my Tribble family (Baptists of later Madison Co., KY)--William Bush, Sr. Perhaps you will find other migrating ancestors or collaterals on one of the lists. Anyone whose ancestors went early to Kentucky should take a peek at all the references to Traveling Church. My Harrises of Albemarle Co., VA who went to Madison Co., KY seem to have waited somewhat longer to have migrated. E.W.Wallace

Dear Harris-Hunters, Some of you indicate that the Harris family of colonial Granville Co., NC probably came from Surry Co., VA and that general area. (A couple of my non-Harris families in colonial Granville Co. also came from Surry Co., VA). I suspect this Robert Harris is of that migrating group. This is a very abstracted entry: Granville Co. Deed Bk H-94 Robert Harris was executor of Sherwood Harris, decd, 6 Aug 1766. (Zae Hargett Gwynn, KINFOLKS OF GRANVILLE CO., NC) (I believe this book has been microfiched by Family History Library, and you can probably order it to your nearby LDS center, and it will cost you probably 15 cents a fiche. I believe there are two fiche. Search the LDS catalog to make sure.) E.W.Wallace PS A Sherwood Harris, probably of a later generation, was very active in early Madison Co., KY in land deals. Was he an agent, or was he a speculator?
Help!! Would the very kind person who contacted me a while back concerning Gracie Harris, of Marion County, Alabama, please contact me again. In all of my mess I seemed to have misplaced the information. I would dearly like to study what you have and see If I am missing something or can make a connection. If I recall correctly, you mentioned that Gracie had a son named Azel and a daughter named Patience. My gratitude will be abundant, Ira L. Harris III Evansville, Indiana

GOD BLESS AMERICA! Trying to find ancestors & descendents of the Langdale family located in Colleton Co, SC, during the 1800's... My great grandfather, John William Harris, born 1855 in that area...his mother is Elizabeth Langdale, daughter of John Langdale & Jane Guthrie...John William Harris migrated to Sumter Co, FL by the time of the 1880 census... I suspect that William Harris & Celia Roberts Harris are the grandparents of my John William Harris...William & Celia Harris are on the 1850 census for Colleton Co, SC...and then on the 1870 census for Polk Co, FL... Thank you!!!
ALBERT M. and OLA RICHARDSON HARRIS FAMILY BOOK This is a book written by the late Lester Lee Harris. Lester was an early member of Harris Hunters newsletter (#62) and passed away (June of 2000) a few years after he finished his book in 1996. The book follows the line of Thomas(1) F. Harris and Susan Conway of Virginia; Silas(2) and Elizabeth Harris; Matthew(3) Y. Harris and Frances Louisa Foster and Albert(4) Matthew Harris 1882-1932 and his wife Ola M. Richardson (1887-1966) of Arkansas and Oklahoma. The book is more than just a family history. Because Lester spent quite a bit of space writing of his childhood and growing up in a very poor environment in Oklahoma during the Depression and the Dustbowl, the book offers a picture of those days. Thomas(1) Harris and his first wife Susan Conway had 6 children: Orison, John D., Susannah, Marianne, Thomas and Charles Timberly Harris. By his 2nd wife Mary _____? he had Robert Riley Harris and Silas Harris. The book is a large format (8 1/2 X 11) hard cover book very nicely published, well written and best of all, is well documented. It contains family descendancy charts and has copious amounts of pictures. There are over 375 photographs and almost as many other illustrations, newspaper articles, documents, obituaries and gravestones. It has 509 pages and has an everyname index.
