Carol and All, I have posted this info several times over the last year or so but here goes. My great grandfather was Andrew Jackson Harris b: Sept 7th 1858 in either Tn or Ky, some census say Tn some say Ky. he married Margaret Ellen Blythe b: May 8th 1869 in Ky. she was the daughter of Allen Blythe and Sarah Short, they were from Cumberland and Monroe counties as far as i can tell, some people have her listed as part of the David Blythe and Margaret Logans son John Allen Blythe family. however i have found her listed in census with her father Allen A. Blythe so im not sure if the Allen A Blythe was a typo or if his name was John Allen Blythe and they called him Allen or what. Anyway, Andrew Jackson Harris died in Aug. 1957 in Jackson County at the home of his daughter and his death certificate says his father was David Harris. in the census where it states where parents were born it usually says Andrews parents were born in VA. but i think on one it says Ky. Andrew and Margaret had the following children. Elmore b: Oct 1886 m. Myrtle Scott from Adair Co Ky. William B. b: March 1888 Monroe Co. Ky. ( I have this info but cant think of it off the top of my head) Tim Clurie b: April 1898 Kentucky m: Elizabeth Thompson of Nelson Co. Ky. Thomas Bedford Harris b: Jan 1901 Monroe Co. Ky m: Edith Whittaker of Jeffersontown Ky. Zora (twin) b:1905 Cumberland Co. Ky. m: Raymond Locke of Indiana. Della (twin) B; 1905 Cumberland Co.Ky. m: Mike Cornelius of Indiana in about 1920 the part of the family moved to Indianapolis Indiana, William, John and Elmore moved at a later date i think but all eventually moved to Indiana. My dad took the DNA test and our closest match with the surname Harris seems to be Elijah on the list but he wasnt close enough for us to be in the same group so i still dont have any leads. hope some one has some ideas for me, anything at all would be much appreciated. Out of the 6 sons of Lindsay Harris d 1802/3 Orange Co., Va, there is one son, William Harris, that I do not have any information. He would have been born sometime between 1778-1802. His parents were Lindsay Harris & Frances Atkins of Orange Co., Va. He had 9 siblings: Jane, Elijah, David H., Susannah, Lucy, Hezekiah, Matilda, Brockman, Francis. There is an Orange Co., Va marriage of a William Harris & Peggy Gibson 24 Jan 1820, wit: Reynolds Chapman; bondsman: Peter Gibson, guardian Peter Gibson-- which is one possibility but I've been unsuccessful in trying to find anything about this couple. Would like to know if there's anyone out there who might possibly have a Gibson/Harris marriage in their database that coincides with the 1820 time period. The five brothers of William migrated into Kentucky. Carol Barron

Hi, everyone, I want to let everyone know who may be descended from this HARRIS of Surry/Wilkes/Ashe/Alleghany Co. line that I am VERY aware of the records regarding William Lewis HARRIS, and his supposedly having been a son of William & Sarah HARRIS of Wilkes Co. [William d. 1848, Wilkes Co., NC; he was a Revolutionary War soldier.] In fact, William Lewis HARRIS was NOT the son of William & Sarah, but their grandson, almost certainly the oldest son of Silas [William Silas?] HARRIS & Eada FRANKLIN [almost certainly the daughter of John FRANKLIN of Stokes & Surry Cos., NC.] The total documents for William Lewis HARRIS (who m. Hannah SMITH, dau. of James SMITH [son of Robert & Hannah SMITH of England] and Elizabeth HUTCHENS [dau. of Thomas HUTCHENS & Martha "Patsy" CHILES, and granddaughter of Strangeman HUTCHENS] DISPROVE the birth date on his gravestone, AND the records of Antioch Methodist Church in Alleghany Co., NC. William Lewis Harris was b. 1803/1804, and was the son of Silas & Edith "Eada" Franklin HARRIS, and likely the eldest GRANDSON of William & Sarah HARRIS. Before anyone who is [or believes they might be] descended from William Lewis HARRIS of Surry/Ashe/Alleghany Cos. goes on the defense, and sends insulting mail to me, I would like to suggest that they do the same hard work I have done, and actually document all of the descendants of William & Sarah, Silas & Eada, and William Lewis & Hannah. I have had several really insulting mails sent to me by persons that I don't think have done any research whatsoever, and I want no repetition of that. I just want William & Sarah, and all of their children and grandchildren CORRECTLY documented, for a change. Pam Stone Ross pamstone@digital.net ----- Ira & all, Notes below---some help, but haven't pegged all of them yet by far... Ira, gathered any other Harris census sightings in Surry, Wilkes, Ashe, or Alleghany counties, NC? Ira & all, Notes below---some help, but haven't pegged all of them yet by far... Ira, gathered any other Harris census sightings in Surry, Wilkes, Ashe, or Alleghany counties, NC? If so, I can help with them, too. :-) Pam pamstone@digital.net ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ira L.
