    1. Re: [HARRIS-HUNTERS] A Christopher Harris-Polly Payne Marriage in Caswell Co....
    2. Dear Wanda, First, thanks for repeating the will of Cornelius d'Aubgne. Since few of Hanover Co. records still exist, I think we will have to accept that William H. Dabney, the author of the book, is correct in citing parts of the will of Cornelius the elder. I am under the impression, but would have to check with the land patents, if any, that the family was still using the French version of the surname!!! If the testator, Cornelius, was of German or a Germanic country, he well could have had several children with the same first name. The middle name was generally the *calling* name. (I have a German Pennsylvania ancestor whose sons were all given the first name of George--making it difficult if an English-speaker was the recorder of the records!!! One Pennsylvania researcher told me the calling name was *rufnamen* but I have not the energy to do any research. Wikipedia does not have that word, nor does it have an article on German naming patterns.) In one paragraph, you write: And from the marriage record, we know that Christopher Harris Jr and a Mary Dabney did marry. I think you may be referring to Cornelius' will, which someone sent me recently. My response and question about this statement: Is there a marriage record of this first marriage? If so, what is the source? I am unaware that Christopher Harris of Louisa Co., Albemarle Co., and later of Madison Co., KY bore the appelation Junior. His patents and deeds in colonial Louisa Co. and, Albemarle Co. and post-Revolutionary Madison Co., KY have him as just plain Christopher Harris. About Christopher's second marriage to Agnes McCord. I have in my genealogy program that the marriage date was ca 1764 and my source: Marriage to Christopher Harris is implied, not stated, in the will of Agnes's father, 1764, Albemarle Co. [Now we have to jump to Agnes' father or brother] Here is my secondary info regarding the death of Agnes's father: John McCord, Sr. died in early March 1764. McCord, John, Sr. 2 March 1764. 8 March 1764. Of Moreman's River. Wife to have maintenance from plantation. Sons: John, Benjamin, William McCord. Son John to pay Christopher Harris two pounds curr. Exrs: sons John and Benjamin. Wit: Gabriel Maupin and James Little. (J. Estelle Stewart King, ABSTRACTS OF WILLS, INVENTORIES, AND ADMINISTRATION ACCOUNTS OF ALBEMARLE COUNTY 1748-1800 [Beverly Hills, CA 1940], p. 14) My research of other families indicates that if a woman died soon after giving birth to a child, the father of that child frequently married very shortly thereafter. That he needed a caretaker for the children is pretty certain. (In my own paternal family, some of the family gossip is that when my Dad's mother died at age 26 after giving birth to a third child in the early 1900s, the babe was *farmed out* for a time with a maternal sister who had a child about the same age. The aunt was then the wet nurse. Later, the maternal grandmother raised this child to maturity and he became her heir.) I am going on customs of the day until we learned about canned milk!!!. Was Christopher Harris married to Agnes by the time Agnes's father died? It is a hunch only. My experience in searching Virginia records of the colonial era is that few marriage records prior to the American Revolution still exist. There are some published marriage records of Albemarle Co. but few of them pertain to colonial days. At least, that has been my observation and experience. Generally, marriages in order to be legal in Virginia had to be performed in the Anglican church, which was the established church of Virginia untill well after the Revolution. Although some scattered Anglican church records exist, few of them are parish Registers--where the births, marriages and burials may be recorded. Now your question about some Harrises in Orange Co., VA. It may be you will have to search ALL the surrounding counties of Orange Co. Not too many books have been published on Orange Co., VA, alas!!! I am familiar with only one by Barbara Vines Little. However, in a very brief visit to the courthouse spring 2008, I noted the deed indexes are highly readable. You might inquire whether the clerk would send you photocopies of the grantor and grantee indexes of the deeds for Harris. (I was not searching Harrises there.) I noted the clerk was very reluctant to give me photocopies of the pages I asked for. As it was, she eliminated one of my requests. Her reluctance came out, We are afraid someone will put them on the internet!!! They seem to forget that these are PUBLIC records. I have had several times to remind county clerks that this is the case!!! In a message dated 1/4/2009 3:55:06 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, [email protected] writes: In regard to Mary Dabney Harris wife of Christopher Harris, married 22 Feb 1745, the abstract Will of her proposed father, Cornelius d'Aubigne (Dabney) is of interest. "From book "Sketch of the Dabney's of Virginia" by William H Dabney. Will of Cornelius d'Aubigne was recorded in the county Court House of Hanover, 17 Feb, 1765. Names his wife, Sarah, and children William, John and Cornelius (already dead). Names his son in law, Harris (his wife being also dead), his dau's Mary Elizabeth Maupin, Fanny Maupin and Anne Thompson, and husbands of two other dau's, Brown and Johnson. John Dabney and Henry Terrell were executors. Will was dated 25 Oct 1764.. At the time of the research a copy of which was in the possession of William Winston Dabney of Enfield, King William Co, VA. The book is copyrighted 1888. A facsimile reprint done in 1999. email sent by Elizabeth to E W Wallace, [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) . 6/12/2003" I do question why Cornelius would name a daughter Mary Elizabeth and another daughter, simply Mary. From the above Will, it's indicated that Mary Elizabeth married a man named ___Maupin. However, It is probable that Mary Dabney Harris is the deceased daughter of Cornelius Dabney. Christopher Harris Sr. remarried before 1765 (does anyone have the exact date?), so it's likely that Mary had died before the Will of Cornelius Dabney was written. And from the marriage record, we know that Christopher Harris Jr and a Mary Dabney did marry. Many families in Colonial times, used a naming pattern for their children to honor their parents, grandparents and other family members. In studying the names of the children of Christopher and Mary Dabney Harris, I find the following pattern: First male child, Robert Harris, named after Christopher's father Major Robert Harris. Second male child, Dabney Harris, named after Mary's father's surname, or could his full name be Cornelius Dabney Harris? First female child, Sarah Harris, named after Mary's mother, Sarah Jennings. Second female child, Mourning Harris, named after Christopher's mother, Mourning Glenn Harris. Third male child, Christopher Harris, Jr, named after his father, Christopher Harris, Sr. Third female child, Mary Harris, named after her mother, Mary Dabney Harris. Fourth male child, Tyre or Tyree Harris, named after his father Christopher's eldest brother, Tyree Harris, also a son of Major Robert Harris and Mourning Glenn Harris. Open to comments and opinions. I'm still looking for my Henry Harris born 1742, Orange Co VA. who married Annie Byrd also from Orange Co VA. Any helpful hints are very much appreciated. His second wife was Mary Ann Simpson, daughter of Richard Simpson of Caswell co., but formerly of Orange Co., NC and previous to that, Fairfax Co., VA. (Comment: I have an abstract of a Virginia deed executed by Tyree Harris and in which his wife Elizabeth relinquished her dower right.) CHRISTOPHER HARRIS SON OF TYREE HARRIS. He is listed in the IGI, with birthdate and place, as the son of Tyree Harris and Mary Ann Simpson. Nothing else is known. IGI is less than a reliable source. A Christopher Harris married in Caswell Co., NC: 1801, 12 Jan - Harris, Christopher & Polly Payne .. Duke Williams was bondsman. (Comment: Duke Williams was married to Ede or Edey+ Harris 19 Oct 1790, Caswell Co.) (Source: Katherine Kerr Kendall, Caswell County, North Carolina Marriage Bonds, 1778-1868 [Baltimore: Clearfield Company, 1990], p. 43) According to the will of his father, Tyree Harris, Christopher was to receive land on High Rock Creek, Rockingham Co., NC. His name does not occur in Kendall's abstracts of deeds of Caswell Co. except probably as "C. Harris." That he is related to Christopher Harris I of Madison Co., KY (probable nephew) is indicated by this entry in Caswell Co. January court 1791: p. 374 Christopher Harriss, orphan, in acct. with Corn. Dabney. Payments to John Lenox, Richard Smith. (Katherine Kerr Kendall, CASWELL COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA WILL BOOKS 1777-1814 [Baltimore: Clearfield Publ Co., 1997], p 33) We infer from this that Christopher Harriss is underage and that he is somehow related to Cornelius Dabney. In the will of his uncle, Christopher Harris, Madison Co., KY, ca. 1794, there is reference to the will of Cornelius Dabney, Christopher Harris I's reported first wife having been Mary Dabney. Her exact relationship to Cornelius Dabney is unknown, however. Submitted by E.W. Wallace **************New year...new news. Be the first to know what is making headlines. John received the 100 acres purchased in 1758 and William received the 150 acres purchased in 1744. John, Sr. retained the 270 acres. Son, John, had to mortgage his 100 acres a couple of times and it appears that he eventually lost it as no deed appears whereby he sold it. William evidently deeded his 150 acres back to his father in 1765. Although no record appears in the deed books for this transfer, the court order book shows that Thomas STARKE and Sherod HARRIS proved a deed from William PAGE to John PAGE. It had to be for this land because, in Sep 1767, John PAGE deeded it to Edward SMITH.   the following goochland co, va deed/ info connects this same thomas stark also with the william harris, wife, mary, and, again, this info indicates that the sherwood harris, who married hannah page, was the son of this william harris/ mary, brother of this gilliam harris and that it was their sister, agnes harris, who married this john cawthon.    2 November 1757 William Harris of St. John's Parish, Goochland Co., to Charles Rice of Hanover Co. 24 pounds, 50 acres and plantation in Fredericksville Parish; part of a greater tract which Edward Harris sold to William Wadkens...Captain Dabney's corner. The Reverend Wayne Dean Sr. >> Wayne, you may already have the following info, which was posted by Dolores Rutherford. I have nothing else on this family. Good luck Linda Date: Sunday, April 26, 1998 10:08:34 PM From: [email protected] Subj: [PAGE-L] PAGE....Part 5 To: [email protected] PAGE - Part 5 J - JOHN PAGE, Sr. >From the ages and marriage dates of his children, it appears that John, Sr. was probably born ca. 1705-1710. When he purchased his first land in Goochland Co. in 1742, just four months after Robert PAGE (R) purchased his, the record gave John's residence as King & Queen Co.. Robert PAGE (R) was a witness to this deed as well as to another deed to John dated two years later. Both tracts of land lay on branches of Lickinghole Creek. In the 10-15 years before John and Robert first appeared here, many famiies from Middlesex Co., VA had migrated to Goochland Co.. It is interesting to note that some of these families acted as witnesses to documents involving the PAGE men in Goochland Co. and, in turn, the PAGEs witnessed theirs. Middlesex Co. borders King & Queen Co. on the north. Familiar names in the Middlesex Co. records that later appear in Goochland Co. are: CHOWNING, DANIELS, GRESHAM, JOHNSON, MOSELEY, PACE, SMITH, THURSTON, TUGGLE (Tugwell), WILBURN, and WILLIAMS, to name just a few. Middlesex Co. was also where an early HEATH family lived. Axol's Swamp was in the part of King & Queen Co. closest to Middlesex Co.. In 1750, John sold his first land (100 acres) to Richard WILBURN, who, as you may remember, was the father of the two WILBURN boys bound out to Robert PAGE after Richard's death about 1759. John purchased two other tracts of land in this county, one of 270 acres in 1751 and another of 100 acres in 1758. In 1761, he made gift deeds of land to his sons, John and William. In the same month, John sold the last of his land in this county (said to be 250 acres) to William BRITT. Because the original deed for this land said it 270 acres, perhaps the land was re-surveyed and found to contain less. He also sold the 150 acres that he had given and received back from his son, William, to Edward SMITH. John's wife, Hannah, released her dower rights to both parcels. Then, the family disappeared from Goochland Co. and later appeared in North Carolina records. During his stay in Goochland Co., John also served as "constable", was on juries, was an Ensign in the militia (1753) and served on the "road gang", both as a surveyor and as a worker. In the latter duty, he was not a convict. In those days, those who lived along or used the roads were charged with the building and upkeep of them. John and Hannah PAGE had the following children: J-1 William PAGE, b. ca. 1731-32. He md. Jean STEVENTON sometime before Dec 1755 when their first child was born. He was first listed with his father in the "Tithable Lists" of Goochland Co. in 1748 and in the deed records in 1765. He can be found later in Pitt Co., NC. J-2 John PAGE, b. ca. 1738-39. He md. Unity HARRIS ca. 1757 as their first child was born in Jun 1758 in Goochland Co.. He was first taxed in his father's household in 1755. John lost the 100 acres that his father gave him there and, after several court cases in which he was the defendant, he left VA and moved to Pitt Co., NC where he was granted and purchased quite a bit of land. J-3 Joseph PAGE, b. ca. 1736-37. He md. Elizabeth STEVENTON on 13 Apr 1758 in Goochland Co., VA (The Douglas Register). He appears in the "Tithable Lists" first in 1760 and last in 1767. In court cases dated 1763 and 1766, when Joseph was the defendant, John PAGE, Sr. gave security for him in both instances. Both cases were later dismissed. The last record of Joseph in Goochland Co. was dated Sep 1767. Joseph's wife, Elizabeth, was no doubt related to William's wife. Joseph also moved to Pitt Co., NC. Some questions remain as to where Joseph was living before his marriage. He was not listed with John, Sr. in the tax lists before his marriage in 1758 as one would expect. However, when his name did appear on these lists, it was in the same district and always next to the name of John, Sr.. J-4 Hannah PAGE, b. before 1743. She md. Sherwood HARRIS on 16 Dec 1761 in Goochland Co.. Sherwood may have been related to John's wife. When his name appears in the tax lists it is next to the name of John PAGE, Sr.. Sherwood ceases to be taxed by 1766. This may have been about the time that they moved to NC. Sherod and William HARRIS were co-defendants in a case of debt in Dec 1763. John PAGE and Joseph HODGES gave security for them. Sherod HARRIS was one of the witnesses to the deed from William PAGE to his father, John PAGE, Sr. in 1765. This deed was not recorded in the deed books, but was proved at court. Sherwood/Sherod and Hannah PAGE may have lived in some other NC county for a while before moving to Anson Co., NC. The courthouses in many NC counties were burned in the 1860's so records of this couple there are difficult to obtain. Another older Sherwood HARRIS also lived in Goochland Co. for a while, but later moved to Granville Co., NC where he died that county in 1763. Sherwood and Hannah had six children, including a daughter Hannah, evidently named for her mother and grandmother. This couple eventually went to Anson Co., NC. Hannah died sometime between 1774 and 1778. Sherwood is reported to have md. again twice and had a second family. His last wife's name was Elizabeth and she may have been the dau. of Sherwood's good friend, William Williams. WILLIAMS is another name that was in both Middlesex and Goochland Cos., VA. William WILLIAMS, in Goochland Co. by 1728 is my ancestor. I do not know if the WILLIAMS mentioned here as a friend of Sherwood HARRIS was related to the Goochland Co. bunch. Sherwood HARRIS died in Anson Co., NC in 1805. Some of the descendants went on to Alabama. Most of my information on the descendants of this couple was contributed by Wm. R. Taylor of Old Lyme, CT. to be continued:   belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8------26910

    2. carol    i was  in a rush yesterday and did not read as clearly as i should have your post on this wilminton harris.  i have also not followed your interest in this wilminton harris and i should have also gone back and  re-read your other posts in regard to him.    i apologize.  i have now done this and i still have some things to say and to point out.   again, this was still my both my william harris, sr/ frances goode, william harris/ judith hudson, as well as james harris, who were all involved with this same crowder family in lunenburg/ mecklenburg cos, va and who were also the same crowder family, etc, involved with thomas hood, who was also involved with this wilminton harris there in amelia co, va.   as i have renoted, though, your info itself states that there was both a william harris and a wilminton harris, said to be sons of this timothy harris/ elizabeth womack.   per the info, it was this william harris, son of timothy harris, who married frances, daughter of this thomas hood, and, in going back and re- checking your previous posts, and i agree, his brother, this wilminton harris is indicated to have married joan/ joannah, widow of this daniel hix .   Goochland Co, VA Wills and Deeds 1728-1736 by Benjamin B. 1. [HARRIS-HUNTERS] [changed subject] Sherwood Harris; Wilmington Harris - not associated
    2. Dear Carol: Although I have studied early records of Goochland Co., VA, I did not recognize the Harrises there. I should go over my notes and books, but this is heavy housework day--and dinner needs preparation.. About Granville Co., NC, however--I have a good many books of early Granville Co., and I do NOT find a Wilmington [that's the way I think I have seen it spelled] in any of the indexes. Sherwood Harris, yes, in Granville Co.. I think I posted something the other day of an elder Sherwood Harris will, Gravnille Co. NC, in which he named his son Sherwood Harris, whom I seem to recall was a minor at the time of the will being written. When I study Madison Co., KY [Boonesborough is in that county], the name Sherwood Harris shows up a fair amount in the early deed indexes. I am not sure these Sherwood Harrises are linked, but since Transylvania/Boonesborough scheme was headed by Col. Richard Henderson of Granville Co., it seems likely Sherwood of Madison Co., KY is the same son of the elder Sherwood Harris. This does not mean they were not linked, but, as far as the abstracts of early Granville Co. are concerned, Wilmington does not show up in the indexes of sthe several books I have. I find relatives of some of my Granville Co. folks had land in Lunenburg, Charlotte, and counties adjoining North Carolina. A distant cousin pointed out that many of the same creeks flowed into North Carolina. (I hope you have an atlas which shows the watercourses which are in both states.) A DAR staff genealogist gave me some great tips some years ago: 1) Find out who the associates are -- such as you have with Hix, Holeman, etc., in Goochland Co. [part of it became Albemalre Co. and that part below the James River became Cumberland Co.] 2) Determine on what watercourse your *suspect* held land. Another professional genealogist says Virginia bridegrooms found their brides downstream!!! A lot of transportation was by watercourse--until decent roads were built. So gather up the neighbors on that same watercourse--swamp, run, creek, etc. Also, I have two recent books of Goochland Co. court order books--Bk No. 3 and Bk. No. 5. The first one is dated 1731-1735 and the second one 1741-1745. Although there are many references in the index to a John Harris, there is no Wilmington Harris of these time periods. From your notes, I see he showed up at a later date. Did he get a land patent? The Library of Virginia website which lists land patents should help you eliminate some folks!!! Harris surname in COB 3 - Goochland Co.1731-1735 David, Esther, John [many references], Thomas Harris in COB 5, Goochland Co., 1741-1745 Benjamin [many references], James, John, William If your people were in Lunenburg, you need to find out what other counties were formed from Lunenburg. I think [but I am not checking my atlas about county boundary changes in Virginia] these were progeny counties of Lunenburg: Charlotte, Halifax, and so on. (and then look across the state line!!!) If you can access HeritageQuest, look for books by Landon C. Bell who wrote of Lunenburg Co. - something like Sunlight on the Southside. I am sorry I cannot recall right off the bat the titles of his books. Best of luck with your Harrises--who seem to use the same given names E.W.Wallace PS Where did you find records of the will and/or guardianship of Daniel Hix? Book or film? The reason is in one of his land patents in Goochland Co., he claimed he had transported one John Williams. However, John Williams had been in Henrico Co//Goochland Co., later Hanover Co.,. long before Hix named John Williams as a *transportee*. Some of my genealogical friends speculate Hix was a kinsman of John Williams. Not unlikely!!! EWW In a message dated 1/12/2009 12:11:33 A.M. Pacific Standard Time, [email protected] writes: Today's Topics: 1. Wilminton Harris s/o Timothy Harris of Henrico Co. VA???? VA???? To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii I've studied the records of Wilminton Harris for some time finding him in early 1746/47 Goochland Co. tithables as Sexton of St. James Northam staying in Goochland for years after that when he started showing up in records of Lunenburg Co. (1750's) and in 1768 (of Charlotte Co. VA) selling his Goochland Co. land (w/wife Joanah). Recently, I ran across his name in a 1759 Amelia Co. VA record as a witness to a deed of Child/Chiles to Southerland with the land in Amelia being the same as the land mentioned in the next Amelia Co. deed (DB 1, p 20) indicating Timothy Harris having the earlier patent on a portion of this Amelia land on Nummisseen Cr. Wilminton Harris was witness in the Goochland Co. 1734 will of Daniel Hix/Hicks along w/Capt James Holman (also Burgess of Goochland Co.) mentioned as possible guardian of Hix' two children so we can get some idea here as to Wilminton's age being at least 21 in 1734 = b ca 1713 & apparently Wilminton lived near Sherwood Harris in 1749 Goochland tithables. Kathryn Wiggins has both Wilminton & Sherwood as sons of Timothy Harris/Eliz. Womack as her "speculative research" and given the information I've gathered on Wilminton, I believe Kathryn's speculation could very well be correct on Wilminton being s/o Timothy but as far as the other children Kathryn notes for Timothy....I don't have anything more except Sherwood lived near Wilminton. Also, I don't know where Wilminton Harris finally settled & died...my last record shows him in Charlotte Co. VA (1768) but I have seen him noted as being in Granville Co. NC but have seen no record to justify that. Additionally, there is a Harris DNA from another Wilmington Harris b 1811 which they claim John Harris/Eliz. Overstreet (m 1789 Charlotte Co.VA) as the parents of this later Wilmington but that's as far back as they have for their line...which is in the unmatched section of our Harris DNA project. 1. [HARRIS-HUNTERS] also re william/ wilminton harris?/ timothy harris/ thomas hood
    2.   carol   these rootsweb family tree sites say it was this william harris/ wilminton (?) harris, son of timothy harris, who was the son of this thomas harris/ yvette, who married frances hood, daughter of this thomas hood of amelia co, va.   again, i have not myself focused exactly on these areas or these families, except as this has related to my own harris family interests.   also, if you or anyone would like for me to re-cite more about my own harris connections, which i have talked about again here re my william harris, sr/ frances goode and my william harris/ judith hudson, etc, there in lunenburg/ mecklenburg co, va and/ or on into laurens co, sc re mark moore; the ragsdales; my goode family, etc, i would be glad to do this.   again, as i say, these connections can be really involved, convoluted, and confused.    it is, again, only as we continue to study these records and connections that we are going to be able to understand them and to sort this all out and to also hopefully confirm  these connections by our harris dna.   belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8-------26910       Pitt County Families Entries: 123745    Updated: 2008-06-25 05:57:37 UTC (Wed)    Contact: lisa Some info has been researched some has not. . 1. [HARRIS-HUNTERS] reply to carol re wilminton harris/ timothy harris/ hood/ crowder
    2. hi carol   both my william harris, sr/ frances goode and william harris/ judith hudson were involved with this same crowder family involved with this thomas hood and timothy harris/ wilminton harris there in amelia co, va.   per info i cannot confirm, this timothy harris/ elizabeth womack was the son of this thomas harris/ yvette also of henrico co, va and this thomas harris, son of this thomas harris, was part of this harris/ jefferson line also from henrico co, va, although other sites give him a different father.    my same or related goode family is shown/ stated to have married into this same harris/ jefferson line there also in henrico co, va.   also, per the info, this was abraham crowder, sr/ frances tucker's son joseph crowder who married mary hood, daughter of this thomas hood also involved with wilminton harris and timothy harris there in amelia co, va.   it was either this abraham crowder, sr or jr, who witnessed the following 1761 lunenburg co, va deed re my william harris, sr/ frances goode to john smith of amelia co, va and john smith's wife, martha, is also shown/ indicated to have been part of this same tucker family of amelia co, va.   lunenburg co, va deed book 6, page 528, 1761, william harris of lunenburg co, va to john smith of amelia co, va for 200 pds, 400 acres on both sides of the middle fork of the bluestone creek and bounded by new lines.  signed:  william harriss.  witnesses:  abram crowder; peter hamlin, his mark; benjamin ragsdale.  frances, wife of william harris, relinquished her right of dower.     it was also both abraham crowder, sr and jr involved with james harris, indicated to have also been the james harris, son of my william harris/ judith hudson, who witnessed the following 1784 mecklenburg co, va deed re mark moore to thomas spain.   mecklenburg co, va deed book 6, page 462, 1784, mark moore of mecklenburg co, va to thomas spain of dinwiddie co, va for 500 pds, 220 acres in mecklenburg co, va bounded by the lower side of woodpecker creek joining hasting;  thomas wilborne; jeremiah lamkin; wade; coleman; jefferies and the said lucas.  signed:  mark moore.  witnesses:  thomas berry; abram crowder; james harris; abram crowder, jr.   again, as i have talked about, i think, both on harris hunters and our harris group 8 forum, mark moore married rachel ragsdale, daughter of benjamin ragsdale, and moved with his brother-in-law, peter ragsdale, also to laurens co, sc.   laurens co, sc deeds connect mark moore and peter ragsdale with my mackerness goode, sr or jr and with the same burgess family also involved with my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers there in laurens co, sc.   to return to mecklenburg co, va, alexander pool married in 1790 in mecklenburg co, va angelina crowder, said to have been the daughter of this dr abraham crowder, jr.   this was his brother, james pool, who married in 1782 in mecklenburg co, va ursula hudson, daughter of william hudson, who is indicated to have been the 1/2 brother of my judith hudson harris and also son of my peter hudson, sr.   william hudson and james pool also moved to laurens co, sc and william hudson gave land in laurens co, sc and rutherford co, nc to his son-in-laws:  james pool; william wilborn; and jeremiah wilborn.   again,  both my william harris, sr/ frances goode and william harris/ judith hudson were involved with the will and estate of john wilborn from 1757-1762 there in lunenburg co, va.   again,  i cannot confirm but info would indicate that william hudson's son-in-laws william wilborn and jeremiah wilborn were related to john wilborn and his son, thomas wilborn also there in lunenburg/ mecklenburg co, va.   again, per the mecklenburg co, va records, alexander pool, who married angelina crowder, and his brother, james pool, who married ursula hudson, were the sons of this alexander pool, who died in 1767 in mecklenburg co, va.   alexander pool was bound out to richard ragsdale and his brother james pool was bound out to benjamin ragsdale.     this info is from the mecklenburg co, va court records:   Alexander Poole, s/o Alexander Poole, bound out to Richard Ragsdale, 1767 Alexander Poole's estate sale money to go to Churchwardens, St.James Par. 1770   James Poole, orphan of Alexander Pool, bound out to Benjamin Ragsdale, 1770; to be bound out again 1776 by Ch'ward.          Mecklenburg Co, Va Marriages:           Alexander Pool m. Angelina CROWDER 11-Oct-1790. Marriage bond 11-Oct-1790, surety by Thomas NORMENT.      alexander pool; william hudson; and mark moore, along with my william harris, sr/ frances goode, were involved with the will of his father, my william harris/ judith hudson there in 1778 in mecklenburg co, va.   richard ragsdale was also later involved with the estate of my judith hudson harris also there in mecklenburg co, va.   a lot of the time these can be really involved and convoluted connections and the only way we are going to be able to sort these connections out and to understand their source or their relevance is to both continue to study these records and to confirm these connections per our harris dna.   rootsweb family tree sites, to follow, call him william harris, not wilminton harris, son of timothy harris, who married frances hood, daughter of this thomas hood of amelia co, va.   to be continued:   belva harris cauthen harris dna group 8---------26910
