Barbara, My span filter and program were active and it is from the state of Kentucky. Good idea tho. Or you could go to the site at the Kentucky Secretary of State. Http://apps.sos.ky.gov/land/nonmilitary/patentseries The file number for Frederick Harris is 07053 and there are 10 pages including the land warrants and last will and testament. I found my ggfather's will in a distant county and a different state from where he died because he owned land there and the land transfer to his wife was through the estate. Also I want to > know why his last will and testament is in the Old Kentucky Land warrants. > Index to Old Kentucky Surveys & Grants and Master Index: Virginia > Surveys and Grants. Peggy, I didn't see any Jesse Harris but I might have missed him in the 1000 or so number of patents. I went thru the list fast and was looking more for William Harris and/or anyone with Kentucky and Hardin County, KY links. I did find a William Harris in the time frame that works, 1815 in Hardin County, KY. Also found that Frederick Harris had bought land in many counties of Kentucky including Hardin County. Frederick made one interesting land purchase, a 600 acre lot sandwiched between Samuel and Richard Terrell in Hardin County, KY. Sorry I didn't find any Jesses Harris. Hi, everyone, More on Benjamin & Sarah Dumas Harris & family. I believe, however, that I made an error earlier in the posting of this line, and feel I must correct it (and apologize for my mistake.) In Part 4 of this series, I stated that Virginia Lee Hutcheson Davis gave the marriage date of Benjamin & Sarah Dumas Harris, and that she gave her source as the Draper Papers. When I looked again at her book, I discovered that the source Virginia cited was NOT the Draper Papers, but the Woolfolk Papers. The Woolfolk Family Papers, 1775-1893, are 7,000 individual items of the Woofolk family of Caroline Co., VA in the Rare Manuscript Collection at the Earl Gregg Swem Library at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia (the call number is Mss. 39.1 W88.) These records were donated to the college in 1937 and 1939. Unfortunately, my friend Virginia Lee Hutcheson Davis did NOT cite what exact page or pages in this huge collection that she found these Harris family records on (and as she is now deceased, I can no longer ask her for the correct sources.) I don't have access any more to Interlibrary Loan services, and I live in Florida, so I cannot further research this manuscript collection. Can anyone else? If you can, please do HELP. Thanks! I have been looking at the Old Kentucky Patent Series for land warrants and found land warrants for Frederick HARRIS, born 1728 in Louisa County, Virginia. Could anyone tell me which YDNA group he belongs? Also I want to know why his last will and testament is in the Old Kentucky Land warrants.
