I have never heard of her being in Mississippi as my grandfather was born in Morristown, TN. Her husband, William Newton Russell came from North Caroline. In 1870 she was 27 years old so thought it possible the 1844 date fit. I looked up the census in North Carolina and found a William Russell with several children but don't believe the information fit.. At any rate she remarried a Mr.Gilpin and at one time lived in Tallahassee Florida. She ended up residing in Orrick, Ray County, Missouri with my grandparents and is buried there.
