Hello list, Until recently I was the owner of a newsagents shop on Saffron Lane, Leicester. In the attic we found a collection of documents (invoices, bills, receipts etc.) relating to the first year the shop was open. The earliest is a bill from H.Timson & Sons Furniture Removers, Storers & Carriers 26 and 28 Curzon Street Leicester This is dated 4 March 1927 and is addressed to the first owner of the shop, Mrs.M.A.HARRIS, "Last shop, right hand side of Saffron Lane, nr Bus Terminus". The bill is for £4 & 10 shillings. Note that the shop is no longer the "last shop", or near the bus terminus. It is now number 583 Saffron Lane. If anybody is researching their HARRIS ancestry and has connections to "Mrs.M.A.", I would be happy to copy, or share information about these documents.
