ISSUE OF SAMUEL DENT AND PATSY HARRIS DENT 1. BAILEY DENT was born circa 1794 in Virginia (1850 Monroe Co., MO census information) and married first, REBECCA HARRIS, on 13 April, 1815 in Madison Co., KY. He may have been born in Franklin Co., VA., and later lived in Madison Co., KY. The Dents emigrated to MO around 1818 and settled in Franklin Co., although Bailey soon moved over to Monroe Co., where he appeared on census records. Mo. bible records indicate his daughter, Martha, was born in Howard Co., MO on 15 Jan 1819. Bailey Dent married secondly, ELIZABETH DULANEY, in Monroe Co., in 1854. There is a marriage contract whereby Bailey Dent agreed to support her youngest children. THOMAS REID and MARY ELIZABETH DULANEY. Some of Bailey Dent's children by his first marriage were Martha Dent who married FOUNTAIN SWINNEY in 1838 in Monroe Co., MO. (Fountain Swinney died 1896); John H. Dent, who married SUSAN DULANEY; their children were William B., James T., Mary E., Charles D., and Martha H. Another of Bailey Dent's d! aughters may have been Ann Eliza, who married RICHARD SKINNER in Franklin Co., MO. in 1833. The Skinners were in Hickory co., MO census records in 1860. Another son was likely Samuel, b. Feb. 28, 1832, died May 28, 1906, Wheatland, MO., married ELIZABETH BROWN in 1854. Samuel served three years in the Civil war in Co. A 8th Regt. of the Missouri State Militia and afterwards enlisted in the 14th Missouri Cavalry and served one year. some children of Samuel Dent and Elizabeth Brown were Joseph S., b. May 21, 1856; William P., b. April 17, 1858; and Mary A., b. 1860. 2. JOSIAH DENT born 4 Feb. 1800 in Madison Co., KY married MARY (POLLY) JAMISON ( born 5 July 1811 - 29 June 1875) on 12 June 1826 in Franklin Co., MO. Josiah died in Hickory Co., MO. 9 Nov., 1875. Polly Jamison may have been the daughter of EPHRIAM JAMISON of Franklin County, as they named a son Ephriam. Other children in the Hickory Co., MO census of 1850 included Harris, 23; Mary J., 13; Clarissa, 11; Samuel, 7; William H., 1; and Ephriam, who was 18. LAVINA DENT born circa 1804 in Madison Co., KY - died Livington Co., MO., in 1873, married ROBERT BEATTY, born Madison Co., KY, 11 Feb 1798 - died 15 July 1849, Franklin Co., MO., son of HENRY BEATTY of Drowning Creek in Madison/Estill Counties, KY) on 5 April 1826. Records indicate that Lavina was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Their children were: a. James M. Beatty, b about. 1828, was listed with a LEWIS JOHNSON family in the 1850 census of Franklin Co., MO. He married MARGARET E. MCINTIRE in Monroe Vo., MO. and died intestate in 1854 and Joseph Beatty and James Owenby served as admrs. with E. T. tucker and Enoch Wilson, securities. b. Bailey D. Beatty, born c. 1834 - died circa 1863 in Monroe Co., MO. c. Joseph Beatty, born 29 August 1832, Franklin Co., MO - died 22 Feb. 1894 Travis Co., TX., married HORTENSE J. (JENNIE) MAXWELL on 4th Oct. 1861. (She was a daughter of JOHN MAXWELL and MARY ANN FOX/FOSE of Randolph co. who are buried near Cairo, MO.) Joseph and Jennie were in Livingston Co., Mo in 1870 and migrated to Texas by 1880. d. William W. Beatty born May 1843 married FLORENCE (MILLIE) M. ELLIS 16 Jan. 1868 in Monroe Co., MO. They had 3 children. Millie died in Travis Co., TX in 1884 and he married secondly, MARY BRADSHAW and had three more children. e. Martha Elizabeth Beatty disappeared after the 1870 Livingston Co., MO census 5. MALINDA DENT born about 1810, married DYSON JOHNSON. They lived in Franklin Co., MO. Their children (1850 census) were: Margaret, 18 Amelia, 16 William, 14, Melvine, 12 Samuel, 5 Robert, 2 6. OLLY DENT born about 1802, married JAMES PARK. Her son, JAMES PARK was married (1850 census) to MARY J. and she apparently lived with his family at census time. 7. MILDRED DOLLARD; Docia SCOTT (who married GEORGE SCOTT and died at age 94 in Kenton Co., KY) Betsey m THOMAS MELSON; Lydia m. JEREMIAH JORDAN; Nancy married a JORDAN; John m. MARY CLOWER; (Jane Dent, John and Mary Clower Dent's daughter, moved to Christian co., MO.) Joel, Jabez m. NANCY MAMAMA; William b 1773 married ESTHER BOARD. (One of the William & Martha's sons was Samuel R. Dent, born 1801) Some of John Dent's descendants settled in Breckenridge Co., KY and others in Grainger Co., TN Walter Dent is listed in courthouse records of Franklin Co. in 1788 (John Thornton - Walter Dent deed) Mark Dent married ELIZABETH FERGUSON 1805, Franklin Co., VA Deed Book I, pp 410-11- 1788 - James Young sold Franklin County land to Samuel Dent. Deed book 3, p 243 - 1795 - Samuel Dent sells to John Dent, 150 acres on Reed or Reedy Creek. Philip and Richard Bailey were residents of Franklin Co., and possibly may have connected, as Samuel Dent named a son, Bailey Dent. William Dent, John Dent, and Sarah Dent were witnesses for Joseph Brown, whose two sons were Jesse Dent Brown and Rhoadham Brown of Bedford Co., VA in 1795 John Dent, James Board and Joseph Stith were witnesses for John Farmer's will in Bedford Co., VA in 1800. (Monroe Co) Annie Dent was a daughter of William Dent and VERLINDA BEALL. This william Dent came from MD. but lived for several years in Guilford Co., N.C. (just a second county south of Henry co., VA) and Orange Co., N. C. before going to Georgia, where he died in 1805. He left sons, Peter Dent; Samuel Beall Dent - (died 1818 in Jones Co., GA); William Dent; Mollie Dent Campbell Moore; and Anne Dent Moore. after William Dent died, some of the family moved to St. Claire Co., Illinois.
