I am trying to find any information on my gr. grandmother, Maggie Melinda Wilder Harris Bunch. She was born in Hancock Co, TN on June 18, 1883. She always said she was born a Wilder but was given away on the street in Sneedville, TN, Hancock co., as a child to a Harris lady. She was old enough to remember it. She never told any of the family the names of her Wilder parents or her Harris parents who raised her. She married my gr.grandfather, Henry Bunch in abt.1899 in Hancock County. She always used Harris for her maiden name, but would tell you that she really had two names. I would love to solve this family mystery for my Daddy, who loved his Mamaw Maggie very much. He is not well so I would like to be able to tell him the family mystery is solved. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any help that you might be able to give me. I recently wrote to the VA-NC Piedmont Genealogical Society in Danville, VA for copies from a Bible. They had some copies from a file but not the Bible. There were two pages from the original Bible and one page (both sides) of a typewritten transcript. The originals had births and marriages only. Now the problem; in the transcript there were many more births and also quite a few marriages,indicating that there should be more pages from the Bible. I am trying to locate the original Bible by posting this message to the Surname-L and in the GenWeb noted in the transcript. The transcript heading is Ward-Bacon Bible Records and has the following surnames: Bacon, Craghead, Gregory, Harris, Lamkin, Leath, Marshall, Ward and White. Looking for family roots of Joseph Harris, MD who married Lena Mitnick Phillips around 1897 in Philadelphia. They had 3 children: Ruth 1899, Kathan (Nathan) 1901,& Edward King 1905. Lena had 3 children by previous marriage to Bernard Phillips: Hettie (Hattie?), Joseph & David (my father). Lena Harris died in Philly in 1927 & Dr. Harris in 1930... They are buried in Har Nebo cemetery, Philly. Evelyn

Hi Maurice and Harris listers, I am searching for Moses Harris too. Perhaps not the same Moses Harris, but I am at a stage where I cant rule anything out. My GGGrandfather Thomas George Harris gave his fathers name as Moses Harris occupation Waterman of London England Thomas George was born about 1812 in London and then came out here to Australia. I'm looking for anyone reseaching a Harris family in Fulton County, Arkansas in the mid to late 1800s. My Sophornia Belle Harris was living with her husband, William Simon Myers in Big Creek Township, Fulton County, AR in 1900. They were married about 1884. She was born in August of 1861 in Arkansas and I suspect she may have been born in Fulton County. By 1910 they were living in Madison County, Arkansas in the town of Marble.
