    3. Al, James Harris born 1640 in Boston, MA was a relative of mine on my father sde of the family. He had 13 children: mary born 2/3/1673/74 Sarah 3/2/1668 baptisted 8/12/1683 in the Old Soth Church, Boston, MA Mary born 6/1669 died 9/25/1670 Deborah 7/1670 baptisted 8/12/1683 James 4/4/1673 Margaret 1/16/1674 Mary 2/3/1677 died 1683 Elizabeth 6/1668 Asa 11/10/1680 Hannah 4/22/1682 Ephraim 7/11/1684 Mary 10/11/1686 Ephraim 7/11/1688 died 1710. What info do you have on Margaret as the information I had was that she died as an infant. For information on the family see if you can get ahold of a copy of the book History of Kings County by Eaton. This is a history of Kings County Nova Scotia where a portion of the family moved to arount 1760. Jamess father appears to be John Harris who was born in England and came to MA in 1634 aboard the Christian. Let me know what info you have and we can see what we have together. 3. I am descended from Thomas Harris through his son Robert Harris, and then through Robert's son, Charles Harris. Thomas Harris (I think) was not only the grandfather of my Charles Harris, but also the grandfather or your West Harris. I would love to get some access, via the web, to some of the information that comes out of this genealogy swap, as time and availability allows... especially that information with regards to Creeksea Estate. I would like to likewise offer more on my own line if and when anyone is interested. I have a web page available which includes information on my branch of this same Harris clan, and will be attempting to make improvements as I can. Please take a look, and let me know if you have suggestions on how I can make it more user friendly. http://www.dkco.com/gen/gendex.html Regards, _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ Daryl Coleman Garland, Texas Homepage: http://www.dkco.com/ Family History Page: http://www.dkco.com/gen/gendex.html Proud Sponsor of RootsWeb! http://www.rootsweb.com/ ICQ UIN # 63679552 _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ _/ AWilliams7@aol.com wrote: > > West Harris Researchers Genealogy Swap Weekend > > A group of us who are West Harris (1715-1795) descendants are planning to > meet for a genealogy swap weekend on April 27th and 28th in Eldorado, > Montgomery County, NC, which is where West Harris and Mary Turner migrated > from Isle of Wight Co., Va. 3. A few days ago I told how we had the news that Cindy's mom age 62 who was working up to a couple months ago when she was having trouble with numbness in her legs and a visit to the Dr found she had some serious problems. This is rather sudden and don't get much time to get used to the idea her mom has no time left. To night a call from a sister of Cindy told us of how Cindy's Mom is not expected to live more that a week or just many days , from a vibrant working mom to the great despair . Her mom seemed fine back when Cindy was in the hospital, we would not have thought any thing was wrong with her . She is not expected to make Christmas week end. We ask for a Prayer chain to aid her to the way of The Great Creator with love from many. Joseph Runnels of Messex Co m Sarah Webb of Wallace Neb. their son Guy A Runnels m Merna Irene Gibson their daughter Roberta Runnels m Jim Harris their daughter Cindy Harris m Dan Matney This is a short sketch of Cindy's family ( not ) listing all the siblings. 1. RE: Richmond Harris, Probable Son of Frederick Harris of Louisa Co.
    2. John C. Carter
    3. Hello. Thanks very much to E.W. Wallace for the posting on Richmond Harris, and the follow-up message from Gary Wheeler. (Their messages are attached below). I'm not sure who the earlier researcher was who'd asked about Richmond (described in E.W.'s message), but I am a descendant of the Richmond Harris (who resided in Garrard County, KY) mentioned by Gary. Without going back and checking my notes extensively (too busy right now, in this hectic Holiday season), I think there were more than one Richmond Harris. From information shared to me by other researchers, it appears that the Richmond Harris who was in Garrard County was the son of a Daniel and Sarah Harris. Here's what I have: Daniel Harris, born in prob. Bedford Co, VA; died in Wake Co, NC. wife: Sarah. son: Richmond Harris, born 23 May 1762 in Bedford Co, VA; died 04 Oct 1852/3 in Morgan Co, KY. (Some of his children were born in Wake Co, NC, and some in Garrard Co, KY--he apparently moved around a lot). Richmond married Dulcene Spence in Wake Co, NC on 06 Feb 1782. One of the 10 children of Richmond and Dulcene was the Susannah (who married Benjamin Wheeler) mentioned by Gary. Another of the 10 was my great-great-great-grandfather James Harris, who married Sarah "Sally" Ham. As I mentioned, I think there have been discussions about their having been another Richmond Harris, and he may have been the one described in E.W.'s message below. Hope this helps. Thanks! John -----Original Message----- From: Gary W. Some months ago, a researcher was asking about a Richmond Harris, about whom I knew little. I have discovered Richmond Harris is a probable son of Frederick Harris of colonial Louisa Co., VA. I believe the researcher said Richmond Harris was of Garrard Co. Hope the following helps: An early Kentucky land record signed by Richmond Harris: "Ky. Land Office - VA Surveys, Bk. 11, pg. 87 - Wm. B. Harris and Jas. Overton's Hrs., assee [assignee] of Wm. Steward, assee, of David Tanner, assee of Emanuel Kelly, assee of Chas. Patterson, 1800 A. part of a 2000 A. entry, part of Treasury Warrant 10694, located in Mercer Co. on Kentucky River, adjoining Isaac Winston and Ann Poage, 24 Jan 1789. Richmond Harris assigns one-half of land in within plat mentioned to James Overton, Jr., and desires to register grant accordingly. 25 Feb 1789. /s/ Richmond Harris." The author adds: "Richmond Harris was the son of Frederick Harris of Louisa Co., VA, see Franklin Co. [KY] deeds." The deeds are not included in Vol. II of Ardery, the author. From Louisa Co. DB G-422 Frederick Harris of Louisa appts son Richard Harris, his atty. in fact to convey his KY lands, 4 Mar 1794. Frederick, then, had a son Richard, who was appointed attorney by not only his father but also by Richmond Harris. There were many other Harris males in Louisa Co., identities unknown. However, one suspects that they were interrelated. Other references to residents of Louisa Co. are found in these deeds or other records. Ct. Bk B, p. 98, 5 Sep 1798 [county not stated by author, but presumably Louisa Co.]: "Richmond Harris to John Overton of Fayette Co., KY, 250 A. located in Mercer Co. on South side of K[entuck]y River, consideration of $500.000. (Mrs. William Breckenridge Ardery, "Harris Notes," KENTUCKY COURT AND OTHER RECORDS [Baltimore: GPC, 1979], P. 170) PS Frederick Harris is probably a brother to my Robert Harris of Louisa Co., VA and at times of Albemarle Co. Robert was a surveyor, a county official from time to time, a member of the House of Burgesses at times, and a vestryman of Fredericksville Parish. James Overton is probably a kinsman, as the reported parents of both Robert and Frederick are William Harris and Temperance Overton (latter died 1716). E.W.Wallace ______________________________

    2. Well. for the first time I got taken in by a virus hoax. I am just a little paranoid since Christie (my daughter) got a virus in her computer last week. Thank goodness I didn't empty my trash bin. Apparently this is a file we all need to make our machines run properly. If you did delete this file, try this website: http://www.symantic.com/avcenter/venc/data/sulfnbk.exe.warning.html So sorry to have caused a stir. Myra

    1. NEW VIRUS???
    2. I got this a few minutes ago, and did find two of the icons. I don't really know if this is legit, but decided I had better not take a chance that is is not. I know I haven't sent mail to all of you lately. My address book is very out of date. Hope this doesn't cause anyone any problems. If I find this is a hoax and I have deleted something important from my computer, I will gladly take all the flack. grin. Myra Someone sent me this message and told me to send to all on my address book. When I did what she said, I did find that sulfnbk on my C drive. Since I found it, it has gone out to all on my address book. Please! follow these directions. 1. Go to "start"-then to "find and search." (depending on your computer) 2. In the "search for files or folders " type in sulfnbk.exe-this is the virus name. 3. In the " look in" make sure you're searching Drive C. 4 Hit the "search" button (or find) 5. If this file shows up {some say it's and ugly blackish icon that will have that name. Mine was bright } DO NOT OPEN IT! 6. RIGHT click on the file-go down to delete and LEFT click. 7. It will ask you if you want to send it to the recycle bin, click YES. 8. Go to your desktop (where all of your icons are) and double click on the recycle bin. 9. Right click on sulfnbk and delete again, or best EMPTY THE BIN.! If you find it send this e-mail to all of your address book. It picks up all name from an address book and passes it on. It escapes the normal virus programs, and then wipes out your hard drive in about 2 weeks from the time you received it.
