I'm trying to find more about the second husband of my GGGrandmother Sarah who married a William HARRIS between 1880-1889 probably in Kansas or eastern Missouri. Middle initial of William might be T. and somehow the name "Martin" was associated with Mr. Harris. I know this isn't much information but if this rings a bell with anyone, please let me know. Looking for information concerning the parentage of Leonard, Marion, James and Boling Harris who were born in Wilkes County, GA in the late 1700's and early 1800's. Their father (according to oral family history) came to GA before the Revolution and then fought in the Revolutionary War. The question is: who is he? The brothers all moved to Pike County, GA in the early 1820's to 1830's. Any leads or information would be appreciated. Nancy Harris Wilkerson
That is because she spelled genealogy wrong. Take out the extra letter "e" in genealogy and it works just fine

West Harris Researchers Genealogy Swap Weekend A group of us who are West Harris (1715-1795) descendants are planning to meet for a genealogy swap weekend on Friday, April 26th and Saturday, April 27th in Eldorado, Montgomery County, NC, which is where West Harris and Mary Turner migrated from Isle of Wight Co., Va. We will share research, visit local sites (churches, cemeteries, etc.) connected with this Harris line, and have an opportunity to copy or purchase pertinent books, maps, and articles. There will be a presentation on Creeksea Estate, the Harris ancestral home of Sir William Harris in Essex County, England. You are welcome to and encouraged to bring cameras, laptops, your research, and photographs. We will have scanners available, so bring your floppies, zip disks, or whatever storage medium you prefer. We are still in the planning stages and welcome your input. We're open to suggestions regarding scheduling, equipment, presentations, etc. Our coordinator has set up a web site for information and planning. Here is the link: West Harris Researchers Reunion On this web site you will find a list of the researchers (and their lineages) who are definitely planning to come. There is also a list of West Harris' children and grandchildren on the web site. For new subscribers: My 4th g.grandparents appear to be William Harris who was born in England in 1747, married Elizabeth Longford born in England in 1750. They were married in England and came to this country and to this town (Lunenburg, Worcester Co., Mass.) in 1776 or '77. They lived on the southern slope of Flat Hill, near the head of the present Shirley Reservoir. He died 10 Oct 1800, age 53. She died at her daughter's in South Reading 4 Jan 1819, age 70. Among their children born in Lunenburg was my 3rd g.grandfather Daniel Harris, who had a daughter Mary said to be born 29 Feb. 1815, (even though that was not a leap year), who married my g.g.grandfather Leonard Cole in 1836. I would like to know where in England that they came from. Someone did a lookup on English marriage records and found a record of a man named Longford and a woman named Harris who lived in Wiltshire, England, and he suggested that that would be a good place to look for a record for my Harris-Longford marriage. Is anyone else researching this line? I put what I know about them on my website at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~bbunce77/Harris.html Thanks in advance. bb
Please forgive me for sending this post to all my lists at one time. I don't have much time today, and there is something I need to share with you. It seems that AOL is having some problems sending all the posts from Rootsweb to the list subscribers. This will probably affect Compuserve users, too. Me included! I believe this has happened once before. All of the posts are being archived, so they can be seen in the Rootsweb archives at: WWW.Rootsweb.com Click on mail list archives. If you have sent a post to the list or to me directly, and have not seen it posted, please resend it. We may not have seen it. I will check the archives this evening to see if I have missed any of your posts. Thanks and have a great weekend. Myra
