    1. [HARRIS] Harris, John Abt 1930
    2. Dear List: I'm Trying to find JOHN HARRIS in AZ abt 1930...likely later...as no subjects of interest were noted in the 1930 census. Married Susanna (FERKO/TERKO) DENZIEN, her second marriage. Her maiden name is found in either form on various records throughout her life. She had a 10 year old son. I know John Harris only because his name appears in my Baby Book. Two words "John Harris" that is all. Simple counting suggests he was of marrying age and as Grandmother was abt 37 I guess he is about the same age. Family lore says Mother and son came west to Arizona. Her death certificate indicates she died in 1937. I am pursuing this avenue In order to locate a marriage certificate and other records bearing his name. Naturally, I need the county before I can procure any records. Sincerely, Victor

    3. Hello Victor... Have you tried for a death certificate for your grandmother? That should show his name if he was still alive. Arizona began requiring death certificates in 1913. Lois in Auburn, CA

    3. Miriam, I don't know much about him but I do recall that last month I took several digital photos of his old colonial manor home on the banks of the Susquehanna River in downtown Harrisburg. Seems I also took a picture of the Historical Commision Plaque out front as well. Would be glad to send you these images to your private e-mail address. 1. [HARRIS] John Howard HARRIS marr. to M. "Rilla' KIDDER ... daughter, Margaret, .. NB, Canada
    2. BBFFRRPP
    3. Hello, My main research is KIDDER .. and they were centered around Washington County and Aroostook County, MAINE. My great-grandfather was born in Princeton, ME, in 1870. One of my "distant cousins" and I ... have been searching for information on one of my great-grandfather's sisters (and her great-grandfather's sister). Joseph and Clarissa (WILKINS) KIDDER had six children in Princeton, ME, from 1870 until her untimely death in ~1885. My great-grandfather came down to the Boston, MA, area. His two brothers moved over to the Berlin, NH, area. The three sisters .. have been very difficult to trace. But, just yesterday, my "distant cousin" wrote and told me that "Rilla" Kidder ended up living in NEW BRUNSWICK .. with her husband ... John Howard HARRIS.. They had married in Houlton, MAINE, in 1901. And, she found out that they had a daughter, Margaret Jean Harris who was born in 1906 in New Brunswick, Canada. ....... I am curious if anyone has additional information on this family. My understanding is that John H.. Harris .. arrived in Houlton, ME, in 1895, and on Census stated he was born in Canada .. (which Province??).. On same Census .. there was a 5-year-old girl, Effie Harris ... and we are curious whether John was previously married.) (Ruth Kidder also married in Houlton, ME, and she married Alex MOORE, from Moore families which lived in both Houlton .. and Woodstock, NB. Julia Kidder married John ROBINSON in Winslow, ME.) Happy 4th! Betty (near Lowell, MA)

    1. [HARRIS] William Harris (born NS) > Ontario c1845
    2. Victor W. Sifton
    3. Hi Listers I am trying to find siblings and/or parents of William Harris. I do know that William, his wife, Mary and James were born in Nova Scotia. The remaining children were born in Upper Canada. The last column is approximate birth year. The family was recorded to be on Lot 3, Concession 10, Caradoc Twp., Middlesex County, Ontario from 1851 to 1871. From the birth locations of children they must have left Nova Scotia before 1846. 2. Kerri & George
    3. Hi everyone I was hoping someone could help me out a bit. I am looking for information on my great grandmother and her family. Her maiden name was Elsie Mable Clout and she was married on June 25 1910 to Percy Tillard Munden Harris. They were married in Woolwich. The Harris' address at the time was 67 Griffen Rd, Plumstead and the Clout/Carter familys address was 16 St. Nicholas Rd, Plumstead. Elsie's mother remarried at some time to a man with the last name Carter. Elsie was born Jan 30 (i think) 1891 Percy was born in 1885 Elsies mother - Pat Clout/Carter Elsies father - Harry Clout Percys father - William John Harris I would appreciate anything anyone could find for me on these names. I have names of brothers and sisters for Elsie but we are still unclear whether some of them are Clouts or Carters. Again....anything in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Kerri Ont. 3. Hi, Sorry, Katie, I know of no American connections so far. The James HARRIS who was my husband's great great grandfather would have been born around 1800, so much too early to be the same James you mention. As for the other James HARRIS (b. 1877, s/o Wm HARRIS & Maria Ann PIERCE), he married Emma Caroline SMITH in 1901, in Fitzroy, Carleton County, Ontario. They had 8 children & James HARRIS died in 1940, I believe. But I do thank you for your help & wish I could have helped you more. Keep diggin'! Mary Harris ----- Original Message ----- From: Katie Carlin To: Ron Harris Sent: Wednesday, June 19, 2002 6:53 PM Subject: Re: [HARRIS] HARRIS from U.K. to Ontario, Canada Hi Mary, I have a James Harris who I've been looking for information on...& your James seems to be born around the same peiod that my James would have been born. He was my Great Grandfather but I know very little about him. He abandoned my Great Grandmother & there 3 children sometime in the 1940's or so until then they may have lived in New York & Philadelphia...... from what I understand he lived in Virginia or West Virginia after that time... any info would be greatly appreciated Katie ----- Original Message ----- From: Ron Harris Sent: Wednesday, June 19, 2002 1:59 PM To: HARRIS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [HARRIS] HARRIS from U.K. to Ontario, Canada Hello! I'm rather brickwalled with my husband's U.K. HARRIS family - help! It's a bit of a needle in haystack. William HARRIS, (1826-1886), s/o James HARRIS & Mary SPICER, was born probably in England. One descendant thought he once heard that the place of origin was Wales, or the Isle of Wight, but all documents found so far just say England. Wm. HARRIS is completely unaccounted for up until his marriage in 1874, but there a couple of theories. Firstly, William HARRIS was a stonemason by trade. In the 1850s, in Carleton county, Ontario, (near Ottawa), a project known as the "Chats Canal" was proposed & tradesmen were called for from all over Britain & Ireland. After religious & ethnic rioting, political change & the sudden death of the fellow spearheading the endeavour, the plan was scrapped & many of the imported tradesmen stayed & turned to farming. William HARRIS farmed in Fitzroy Twp., Carleton County (& some family members believe he even built a local church), so he may have been among these tradesmen. Also, a strange coincidence exists. As I mentioned above, William HARRIS is largely unaccounted for until 1874, when he married Maria Ann PIERCE in Fitzroy Twp. In the census of 1871, for the town of Belleville, Hastings County, Ontario, Canada, there was another William HARRIS - same age, ethnic group, trade etc. - living with a wife, Augusta, & 9 children. In the census of 1881, they are not there. Where did they go? Did Augusta die? Is our William HARRIS & this fellow in Belleville the same man? William & Maria had the following children: twins Hannah & William Henry b. 1874, Sarah b. 1876, James b. 1877 & William John b. 1879. I have been sucessful in finding where these children went, although Sarah's life still needs more researching. She married Michael WHELAN & moved over to Alymer, Quebec, then had 2 daughters (Mary Agnes & Adeline) who never married, it seems. I am still hopeful they had more children, as there might be HARRIS descendants to find somewhere! What I wish to learn is where in the U.K. was William HARRIS born? When & why did he come to Canada, & with who, if anyone? Is anyone out there connected to this family? Does anyone know how I could narrow down William's place of origin? Thankyou for reading this l-o-n-g message & for any help you might give! Mary Harris ==== HARRIS Mailing List ==== Families are like fudge. 2. Hi I am a new member to this list. I am seeking information about a Scottish Harris family. William Harris was connected with the Picture House, Bonnybridge. He was born about 1844 and was married to Mary Byker. His son Henry married Blanche Scott and had 8 children. Has anyone out there come across this family? If so I would very much like to chat to you. Blanche Scott is believed to be my grandfathers sister and they are related to the famous circus Scotts. Many thanks to anyone who replies. Ann
