    1. [HARRIS] Harris family in PA
    2. Loy H
    3. Am still hoping to get some info on the John Harris family who settled in PA and the same John Harris who is credited with naming Harrisburg. I know that my great-grandfather, the Rev. Jacob Harris, left Harrisburg and went south about the time the Civil War started. He settled first in Trade, TN, and later went to Grandfather Mountain, NC. My grandfather, Roy Robeson Harris, was born in NC about 1880. I am looking for info prior to the Rev. Jacob Harris. Thanks,Loyless Harrisloy_h@excite.comThe best thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember what you said. _______________________________________________ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web!

    1. [HARRIS] HARRIS Newsagents & TIMSON Removals in Leicester 1927
    2. Michael and Amanda Lord
    3. Hello list, Until recently I was the owner of a newsagents shop on Saffron Lane, Leicester. In the attic we found a collection of documents (invoices, bills, receipts etc.) relating to the first year the shop was open. The earliest is a bill from H.Timson & Sons Furniture Removers, Storers & Carriers 26 and 28 Curzon Street Leicester This is dated 4 March 1927 and is addressed to the first owner of the shop, Mrs.M.A.HARRIS, "Last shop, right hand side of Saffron Lane, nr Bus Terminus". The bill is for £4 & 10 shillings. Note that the shop is no longer the "last shop", or near the bus terminus. It is now number 583 Saffron Lane. If anybody is researching their HARRIS ancestry and has connections to "Mrs.M.A.", I would be happy to copy, or share information about these documents. When I get time I intend to gather together the names of all the firms etc supplying goods to the shop, which I will then post on the list. Please get in touch if you think I can help you. 1. [HARRIS] Phebe Harris, b abt 1798 GA?
    2. Teresa Harris
    3. Seeking husband or descendents of Phebe (maiden name unknown) Harris. She was living in Sumter Co., GA at the time if the 1850 census. Family legend has it that they lived in Cobb Co., GA, and were originally from Harris Island in Scotland. Phebe is shown with the following children all born in GA: Nancy b 1827 Hilliard b 1828 (he is married and his wife Elizabeth is living in the same household) June or Jane b 1831 Jefferson b 1833 Lydia b 1835 James b 1836 Rebecca b 1838 Benton or Burton b 1840 Georgia Ann b 1842 Arminada b 1844 Family stories say this family lived for a while in or around Atlanta. Hilliard and Elizabeth McCorkle Harris, and his sister Lydia, had migrated to southeast Arkansas before 1861. It is believed that Hilliard went back to GA in 1861 to sign up to fight with CSA friends and family. I have much to share on this line. Teresa Harris

    2. Looking for information on a J. Henry Harris. In 1942, he signed an affidavit as a non-relative on my grandfather's (John Samuel Buntin) birth certificate from the Commonwealth of Kentucky. He was then 75 years of age and possibly living in Madisonville or Earlington. Would like to know if he had a son with the name of Eddie or Edward of whom was married to my great aunt, Mrs. Eddie Harris. I haven't a first name for this aunt. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Harris had been living in Earlington as late as 1957. Thanks. C. Buntin

    1. [HARRIS] Isaac Harris Halifax Co. NC 1807 & Patsy Harris Wms.
    2. Joyce Libes
    3. Isaac Harris' will (written 27 May 1807 Halifax Co. NC) left his daughter Martha Ann "Patsy" Williams' portion in trust of his son and executor also named Isaac Harris. Isaac (Jr.) went to Davidson Co. TN and while there still held the trust. When Martha's husband Benjamin Williams died in 1816 in Dickson Co. TN, Isaac (Jr.) deeded the land to his nephews and niece, Benjamin's heirs, and named them in the deed: Jones, Harris, Etheldred, Buckner, Benjamin, Plummer, Tippo and Martha Williams. Does anyone on the list have the deed book, date, and page for the deed that was made? Also in what county was the deed made? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Does anyone know the source for Martha Harris and Benjamin Williams marriage 27 May 1784? That date is on a record copy of a DAR application I have. The applicant cited another DAR application as the source for this information which didn't help answer my question at all. Another researcher on the Williams and Harris lines said he saw the marriage date in a family bible belonging to Martha Harris Williams' son, Plummer Williams, but the owner of the bible wouldn't let him make a copy of it. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

    1. [HARRIS] HARRIS, William and OLDHAM, Anna
    2. Lois
    3. Does anyone have a list of the children of this couple? They were married 2/4/1790 in Clark Co; however, it appears that they lived most of their lives in Estill County. I know the boundaries changed, so perhaps they never moved but just had the lines moved on them. I have been given a partial list of the children; however, I have no proof: Levina, b. abt 1795 William, b. abt 1796 Docia, b. abt 1808 Josiah, b. 1813 Patsy (Martha), b. abt 1817 I know there must be other children of this marriage due to the gaps between the ones I have listed. If anyone has any info on this family, please post. I am trying to connect "my" Josiah Harris with this line, but can find no proof. Lois in Auburn, CA

    3. I believe that Christian Harris is the widow of William Harris who died in 1831 at Saline Co. MO and who married Christian Johnson in 1823, probably at Madison Co., KY. Their daughter, Lucy, from whom I am descended, was born in 1831 at saline Co., MO. If this seems to fit your data please contact me. I have been looking for Christian's parents for a long time. I have a little information also on William Harris' family, but need much more. 1. [HARRIS] VA/1600s/HARRIS, Capt. Wm./OVERTON, Temperance
    2. Dear Lois, I don't know if or precisely how this (Captain) William HARRIS connects with my HARRIS family in early 1600s in Virginia but I am in hopes that someone on the list can help clear up the dates for us as mine a bit different than yours as I show below. This information came to me along with other information that connects with my research so I am not sure of the total accuracy or citations of proof but, perhaps, it will give you something to utilize for more intensive research and, perhaps, there is someone on the list that will have corrections and/or additions. (Captain) William HARRIS, born: 1672 in Hanover County, Virginia or in 1652 in Weyanoke, Virginia and died: 1720 in Norfolk, Virginia or March 08, 1687 in Weyanoke, Virginia and he married: Temperance OVERTON, born: March 02, 1678/79 in England or in New Kent County, Virginia, died: February 09, 1715/16 in Cedar Hill, Hanover County, Virginia or in Abt. 1710 and that they married in Abt. 1695 in St. Peter's Church, New Kent County, Virginia. I show Temperance OVERTON is the daughter of William (1) OVERTON, I/Sr., born: December 03, 1638 in Easington, Yorkshire, England, died: 1697 in New Kent County, Virginia, and the 1st wife of William (1) OVERTON, I/Sr.. I do not show a wife's name for William (1) OVERTON, I/Sr. but I do show one other child for him who was William (2) OVERTON, II/Jr., born: 1675, died: June 18, 1759, who married Margaret GARLAND, born: 1702 whom I show as the sister of Elizabeth Truhart GARLAND, born: 1690, died: November 19, 1739, who married in 1706 in Hanover County,Virginia to James (1) OVERTON, Sr., born: 1688 in St. Martin's Parish, Hanover County, Virginia, died: June 18, 1747 in Hanover County, Virginia, son of Elizabeth/Mary or Mary Elizabeth WATERS, born: December 30, 1654 in St. Sepulchre's, London, England, died: 1697 in St. Paul's Parish, Hanover County, Virginia, who married on November 24, 1670 in Yorktown, Virginia as the 2nd wife to William (1) OVERTON, I/Sr., born: December 03, 1638 in Easington, Yorkshire, England, died: 1697 in New Kent County, England, (father of Temperance OVERTON shown above.) This Elizabeth/Mary or Mary Elizabeth WATERS was the daughter of Anne ?, born: 1619 in London, England, died: June 27, 1700 in St. Sepulchre, London, England, md: 1639 at St. Sepulchre, London, England, and husband named Samuel (2) WATERS, Sr., born: 1617 in Eastcott, Northhamptonshire, England, son of Alice GETLANDE, born: 1592 in Eastcotte, Northamptonshire, England, md: September 01, 1606 in Eastcoff, Northamptonshire, England, and John WATERS, born: November 22, 1590 in Eastcott, Northamptonshire, England, died: July 20, 1626 in Eastcott, Northamptonshire, England. BALDWIN, TERRELL/TYRELL, ANDERSON, and CARR are other names that these families married into. Then I show that Temperance OVERTON and (Captain) William HARRIS were the parents of: 1. (Major) Robert HARRIS 2. Elizabeth HARRIS 3. George HARRIS 4. John HARRIS, Sr. 5. Benjamin HARRIS 6. William HARRIS, Jr. 7. Jemima HARRIS 8. Edward HARRIS 9.
