I'm posting my reply to you and to the list with the hope that there are others with HARR ancestors from Cumberland Co, PA. The little bit I know about my HARR relations is taken from the Latter Day Saints website and "The Genealogy of the Family of Johannes Wunderlich". The earliest HARR ancestor of mine that I've discovered was Abram HARR b. 11 May 1779 in Cumberland Co., PA. He married Susanna Wunderlich in 1807 in Cumberland Co, PA. They had three children all born in Cumberland Co. - Mary, b. 21 August 1808; Isabella, b. unknown; Abram, b. 24 December 1824. Abram Sr. died in 1824. Abram Jr. then went to Miami Co., OH where he married and his children were born. I know the names and dates of my HARR's don't seem to match, but thought there might be some connection. ackie, This very well could be an association between names. The name Harr wasn't very common and derived from either "Horr, Hoar, Haar" and i heard from a distant relative that somewhere back in the 1800's a relative from Ruden harr went to Oklahoma and stuck oil, became rich and lost it all in venture for more oil ...Just our luck huh?????...I will get together what I know and maybe we can swap hisotry...Thanks for the reply...My Dad is from Kansas but met my mom in Virginia while he was in the Navy and they got married and mostly live here until now.
thanks for your reply markku19@uswest.net as far as the Kansas and Oklahoma HARRS I don't know, could be. Will keep your info for future in case I find a link. Happy Hunting to you! Patti
I have been doing some geneaolgy on the Harr's in Kansas, have traced them to Oklahoma and Texas in the 1928 and 1930's. This is my first husband's family ( All of the elder Harr's in this line are deceased ) My husbands grandfather was Richard William Harr Sr. he died in Oklahoma City in 1938. I have know idea if he had brother or sisters. I found them in the 1920 census in Kansas, He was in the oil supply field. I wonder if this people could be related?
Looking for information on - or descendants of – Dell Roy HARR (HAAR) and wife, Nora D. HARR who were living in Rochester at 26 Rosalind Street at the time of the 1920 census. They had two children, Lucy (age 5) and Ruth (age 2) both born in NYS. DelRoy was my grandmother's brother and the son of David Haar (Harr) and Emma Buckingham Haar. Would love to hear from anyone to whom this sounds familiar!!! thanks, Patti
Hello...I have just finished a book about Pioneers of Medina Co. Ohio with all surnames beginning with "H" from mid 1800's to early 1900's and would be glad to do a free look up to see if your family is mentioned in this book. I have created a format that I believe will help anyone searching for their family..I have combined: Newspaper articles, marriages, deaths, mini bio's, court records, cemetery records and more....all with the surname in Bold print for easy searching. I was tired of buying a lot of books that had so much that didn't help me and thought if I'm tired of wasting money so will others. While I am bound by certain rules by my publisher I can do free look ups and if your family is mentioned I can let you know the print date and the cost of the book. (As well I am already working on "M" surnames and will go to A-Z before I'm done). Thank you for your time and let me know if I can be of help. I was wondering… are those of you on this list researching other spellings of the HARR name as well?? Or strictly HARR? Since I subscribed, I have found several alternate spellings and, in fact, now believe that my ORIGINAL family name was HORR. I am also working on HAAR/HOOR/HOAR. Anyone else? Patti

I'm researching my great great great grandfather Lawrence Harr, his son, Lawrence Harr and his grandson, David Harr. The elder Lawrence married Polly Myers and had sons David, James and George. The next Lawrence (born 1815) was originally from Herkimer County, New York. Married Martha (?) and moved to Oneida County later and is buried there in Evergreen Cemetary. Do not have his date of birth or death. Name was also spelled HAAR, HOUR, HORR. His son, David Haar (born 1862) was a career military man - moving around the country to Montana, Upstate New York and California to name a few. Any of this sound familiar? Patti
Hi I am new to this list. I am looking for info on Mathias States Harr b. 1818 in Pennsylvania. He married Ann E. Morrow. He was living in Cambria Co, PA in 1844 when the birth of first child James M. Harr occurred. I found the family in 1850 census with name spelled HARE instead of HARR. Any info would be appreciated.
