Hi. I have several Harper connections in Pendleton County, WV. One of them is your Joshua Harper and Catherine Conrad. Joshua was the son of Adam Harper a Mary Vance, da. of John Vance (my ancestor). Catherine's parents were Jacob and Madlean Conrad. I have the following children listed, Sarah who married Enos Tingler, Mary Magdalene who married Wilson Vance(I have a good bit of info on this line) Elias who married Delilah Hinkle, Amos who married Sarah Ann Flynn, Noah who married Susan ?, Christina who married Martin Judy, Miles E., Margaret J. (who is probably your Peggy Jane), Asenath J., and Elizabeth who married Valentine M. McDonald. Mary Harter, the late historian for the Hinkle Family Association did some research on this family which I have copies of. Maybe we should put this information on the new Pendleton County web page and see what happens. Marsha Fuller listed these Harpers in the front of her book as a separate group of Harpers from the family she wrote about. I am currently in possession of some information on a group of Harpers who are said to be of Scotch Irish descent. This family starts out with William Harper from Donegal County Tyrone, Ireland who married Elizabeth Ralson born Londonderry, Ireland. They were married about 1794 in PA. Possible brothers and sisters: Samuel Harper, a brother thought to have settled in S.C., one who settled in Kentucky and two sisters, one who married a Bagley and settled in Missouri and another who came to America when she was 100 years old........I am just typing this and it is not my line; however this family lived near Macksville at Lost River, at Upper Tract and other places in Pendleton County. I have done some research on this family and I can find no connection to my Adam Harper line. If any of this is of interest to anyone, I will be glad to share what I have on the Harpers.
