I have started a Harper surname DNA project. Any male Harper who wants to know if he is related to any other Harpers and if so which ones can sign up to have their Y chromosomal DNA tested. One can do either 12 or 25 markers. 25 is more accurate but costs more. Some people do the 12 and then if they match with someone else they can upgrade to 25. You can find more info at FamilyTreeDNA.com. Check surname projects. You can sign up this way or alternatively email me at mharper8@houston.rr.com and I will send you the form to fill in. Look forward to having you join the project. This test won't work for women, no Y chromosome. They can do a mitochondrial DNA test, but that only tells them their female line (mtDNA passed from mother to daughter only).
