Already I have a problem....there are more than three Henry Harpers in Amherst in the 1780 area. My Henry was born 1783 in Amherst to a Mrs. Susannah Harper (Proffitt)....the father has died. Susannah remarries Joseph Welch in 1785, Amherst. They move to Lincoln County, KY where Henry grows up as the Stepson. By 21 he marries Sally Johnson in Lincoln, KY and has a family...one Son, Charles Nelson carries the line eventually to me. I am trying to find the father of Henry Harper. He may have been one John Henry Harper JR. or John Harper Jr. There are no death nor marriage records that we have found yet. In Lincoln County, KY, our Henry associates with a William and Joseph Harper...who appear to be about the same age.....also a Pleasant Harper....you would think there is only one Pleasant Harper, but guess what,,,there are at least two...one is from Castleton's Harpers in VA. I have all the docs for the above....excepting anything on Susannah's first husband and his death. Thank you for any clues or hints you may come up with. John Harper Calsouth1@aol.com
