He was the son of Benjamin and Charlotte Harper of Frederick Co, VA. If the 2nd wife, Sybil, was 31 at the time of the 1850 census she couldn't have been the mother of Joseph and possibly not mother of Meavy (which was probably Mary). You need to talk with Judy Woehrle who is a gggg..... something of Thomas'. Do not have the number here at work but will try to remember to get it tonite. By the way, Thomas was one of five sons of Benj. and Charlotte. I am a descendent of one brother, George Hiett Harper. In 1845 the heirs of Benjamin deeded the homeplace to Geo. C. Slagle. His father was James and his mother was Margery Robinson. They were married in VA. James is buried Rockbridge, VA. Could this be your Thomas? Mr. Wood sent her a copy of what I would call a settlement statement for the estate of The Robert Harper of.....Harper's Ferry. Although Benj. is not listed in Robert's will as an executor Benjamin is listed as an executor in the settlement. Another Harper in the same document is Ebenezer. Does this data mean anything to those of you on the list? I would appreciate any input. Mitzie and I have been corresponding for a couple of years. One of the things that lead me to Frederic Co. was a land transaction in Marion Co. in 1829. The Harper brothers, John Thomas George Hiett Levi and Benjamin all Quick claimed a piece of land over to Mary Hiett. The signatures of George, L evi, and Benjamin were signed in Frederic Co. Virg. Mary Hiett was Mary Jane Mouser's sister, Mary Hietts husband Simeon Hiett died in 1829. Now isn't that curious that in some way the Hiett name is associated with the Harper family also,with Mitzie's an cestor being named George Hiett Harper. Boy I sure hope I haven't confused you to much. Know looking in Virg. for the Parent of Benjamin(d.1817) and Charlotte(d.1844) has been very Difficult!
