    1. [HARPER] Harper Roll Call/Singleton Marriage
    2. My Harper line comes out of North Carolina. Sometime before 1820 KIZIAH HARPER was married to CHRISTOPHER SINGLETON, in Burke County. Kiziah is believed to be the daughter of JAMES VINCENT HARPER of Rutherford Co. She was born circa 1804. The abandonement of Kiziah Harper was recently published in the "North Carolina Genealogical Society Journal", Vol. XXVIII, No. 3, pg-321, Aug. 2002; "Divorces and Separations from Petitions to the N.C. General Assembly", Ransom McBride. Kiziah was granted special legal status to be single. I descend from her son, Osema Singleton. Kiziah's parents were probably James V. Harper and MARY BLANTON, the second wife of James (???) James was a son of AMBROSE HARPER. I am told that James was the only Harper householder in Burke Co. in 1820. James was married to Mary Blanton from about 1800 to 1839 when Mary died. James is mentioned in the will of his father, Ambrose Harper, from Halifax Co. N.C. Ambrose was a son of HENRY HARPER. Ambrose is mentoned in Henry's will of 1766. I am still fuzzy on much of this and have honestly been saving it for later. I would like to hear anything about these Harpers. -Mark Vernon Seattle, WA
